Full Version: EXPANSION?

We have two good owners who have indicated their desire to join our league... many of you know SuperJohn and Ronnie from the DYNASTY. It's great to have a league that good owners want to join, but we currently have no framework for expansion in place. With that in mind, here are my questions for each owner in the league:

(1) Do you want to expand? This would mean expanding to 14 teams NEXT YEAR. Do you favor adding two new teams to the league in 2009?

(2) How do you think we should do this? After all, these teams would come in with no players on their squads.... would we give them the 1st and 2nd picks in every round of next year's draft? Would we ask each current owner to list 3-4 players on his sqaud which he would be willing to lose in return for draft picks?

(3) Would this affect the playoffs? Same number of teams go to the show or would this change?

Again, we're talking NEXT YEAR so we have plenty of time to discuss this issue. Please feel free to discuss and debate the merits of expansion is this topic.

I am for expansion, as long as the fee for joining is higher than our fee, considering that some of our teams are bad while a newcomer would be able to pluck some of the better players that year....

I am fine with expansion. The way it works in some real sports is that teams are allowed to protect X number of players ( i.e. 10). The expansion teams would then choose from those unprotected players. Existing teams could only lose 1 player each.

In the end expansion teams would get 6 unprotected players to start their team and build the rest through the draft.

Draft picks should be done via random draw rather than giving them automatic 1 and 2 picks each round.
