Last year, Jim had the #1 overall pick in the draft. Instead of Keeping one of his players, he dropped him (resetting that player's keeper clock), knowing that he could pick him back up with the #1 overall pick. It's a loophole that the crappy teams from the previous year can currently exploit.

I'm not exactly sure how to phrase the rule change if we vote to close the loophole. If you vote to close the loophole please offer your suggestion for the rule that we will adopt.

I would propose this... Any player dropped from a team, must clear at least 1 round of waivers before the same team can pick him back up.

Please vote and then also post a reply to let me know that you've voted.

I don't know how much an effect this would have for a lousy team for the previous year being able to reset a keeper clock on a stud. If they were truly that bad, then that one stud isn't gonna make that much a difference in my opinion, as it obviously didn't the previous year. Their team needs to drastically improve with a better overall draft.

In addition, when you get to rounds 5-8 in our draft, I know I was guilty of grabbing a couple guys over again from the previous year, but by no means were those guys worthy of a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick in the draft. For what it's worth, I only kept 2 players from our first season, and wound up taking Thomas Jones with my 3rd round pick. bag.gif

The guy I then took in like the 5th or 6th round I had the year before was Fred Taylor, but c'mon, there's no way anyone would have given up a 3rd rounder for an aging RB in a RBBC situation last year.

You raise a good point... we can't just say that any dropped player has to clear a round of waivers before you can pick him up again, because what if you had for example, Mason Crosby PK on your team last year... you obviously wouldn't keep him, so you would drop him, but then you wouldn't be able to re-draft him at any point in the upcoming draft if you wanted to (so my version of a possible rule change wouldn't quite work as it is anyway).

We could possibly say that any dropped player has to clear at least one round of waivers OR one round in the draft before you can pick him back up again? Something like that. think.gif

Well, I guess we can worry about the exact wording of the closing of the loophole rule if indeed we vote to close it.

They would probably have to keep no players to insure that they would get the same player back. Then they lose the chance to gain a new player to their roster so it's pretty much a wash. But having a requirement that a player must clear at least one round is a good one as well. whacko2.gif

Voted. Leave it as it is. I've noticed that us FF geeks can overthink things to a ludicrous degree sometimes. I'm as bad as anyone.

Jim did not keep any players last year. I actually should have had the first pick but since I kept 3 players didn't pick until #8 overall. Ursa hit the nail on the head you cna over think FF too much.

Since it takes 8 votes to change a rule, this one will stay as is with 5 votes to keep it the same.
