I was debating on whether to take Holmes or Marshall with my 2nd pick. I am really high on both and when club took Holmes that left me with taking Marshall. I'm hoping to get by for the 2 weeks he's out and then he'll come out like gangbusters. I could have taken a couple others before him but injury concerns and bye week issues strayed me away from those two.

I have been so busy the last several weeks and keepers were due while I was on vacation. With a little more time it is very likely that I would not have kept Shockey and would have kept Holt.

But that water is under the bridge. When my spot came up I considered serveral players ... Holt and Burress were tops on the list. I'm not sold on the STL offense this year ESPECIALLY with SJax holding out ... throw in a new offense and an aging Holt ... well I decided to go with Burress instead.

Of course Burress has his own share of health issues ....

I was really hoping that Witten would have fallen back to me. I strongly considered keeping him, but then I couldn't decide who I should get rid of instead of him. I thought he had the best chance of making it back to me. I really feel like he was a major reason why I won the league last year. So I decided to take the next best thing (though his knee is of concern)

On another note, I was targeting another RB and happy to see that I could aquire Lewis. I believe he will have a stellar year barring injuries. Sure I was targeting the rooks as well BUT I have Stewart in 2 other of my drafts. Teaming Lewis and LT this year I hope will bring good fortunes for my team.

Starting with P Manning, Gore and Graham.
Was hoping a solid 3rd rb would slide but didn't see any I thought were worthy of my first pick. Debated about Holmes but went with Witten to give me my #1 ranked TE. Was happy Welker lasted to my 2nd pick. He was the last wr I had in mind at that spot.

I thought about sending you an email last night but figured I should have made more of an effort to review my options before I left. Not sure why there would be any hard feelings as I posted the keepers just so that they'd be there if I got too busy ... which I did.

Pick 2.06 - Kevin Smith, RB, DET

I really struggled with this pick. I looked long and hard at both Boldin and Jennings at this spot (and they fell in succession after my pick). I looked at a slew of unattractive RBs as well. Finally I decided to roll the dice on youth hoping that Smith wins the job in Detroit and excels. If he flops this pick could hurt me in a big way.

Yeah, just saying. Hopefully everything went good on vacation. Sorry to hear about the mishap.

I wanted to take Marshall and would have without the suspension. Call me anytime if you want to keep the draft going during the day. If I can't take the call, I just won't but I've got you in my cell now so I will call you back the instant I can. If you want. I've got 2 drafts going so I've got everything handy.

When I took Kevin Smith at 2.06 I was hopeful that Roddy White would slip to me in the 3rd round

I don't think anyone has slipped so far.

Had to take Big Ben there. Wasn't really sure what I wanted to with the next pick. I am hoping the guy I thought about taking will be there with my next pick. Maroney played good the last two weeks of the season and I am hoping that is cause he was finally healthy and they will give him the rock more in 2008. I still liked 3 RB's but getting Maroney here was good value so i felt I had to take him.

I had no RB's that I was willing to keep so I knew my search for RB's would commence with my early picks in this draft. I also knew that I might have to sacrifice this year to take potential keepers for future years. Stewart would have been the pick but I thought Turner was the best option to produce now and get me a possible keeper for the future. I almost traded for Turner but knew I'd have the chance to get him at 2 if I really wanted him. This was less than the asking price for the trade so I decided to stay pat and decide. I was leaning towards the rookie but at the last second decided to grab Turner.

With my second pick I grabbed the rookie in Chicago (Forte) who I hope will play well enough this year to earn him a starting spot on my team for years to come.

My 3rd pick of Ronnie Brown was really more for the future. I am not expecting much from him this year and in fact hope he sits and lets his leg fully heal before coming back to the same form he had in the beginning of the 2007 season. With these 3 picks I am hoping that 1 or 2 of them work out for my future.

Rats. I was hoping 1 of Maroney or Jennings slid to me but really didn't think they would.
Went with Bowe. I'll take his numbers from last year as my wr2 but I think his upside is a low wr1.
Couple other guys got a hard look from me here but thought Bowe had more upside then them.

I wanted either Bowe or Coles with that pick

Went with Ray Rice.
I like him a lot in the coming years and don't think he would make it to my next pick.

Ricky Williams led me to a championship 6 years ago, who's to say he couldn;t do it again I really like Zach Miller's connection with Russell. I could have went with someone ranked higher but I have him on another squad and wanted to mix it up.

Witten helped carry my local team to victory last year as well ... him and LT

I haven't been able to pull the trigger on Williams yet.

This draft is going nothing like I had hoped. Kept the wrong player. Drafting poorly. Last year I failed to consider league set up, assuming it was like my local ... made the same mistake this year.

If I win it will be by a stroke of luck.

The main way it is "different" is that I did not have time to properly prepare for the draft and now I'm winging it. Keeping Shockey set me off on the wrong foot that I have been trying to recover from. Romo and Addai are studs for sure ... but after that every one of my players is either an injury risk or in a questionable/new situation.

If I keep Holt instead of Shockey then that changes the way I draft. I could have kept Holt and drafted Witten at 1.07 and been in much better shape. I reached for Kevin Smith ... then settled for LenDale.

This squad is not inspiring to say the least.

I'm getting tired of drafting right after REZ and Red Eye. They keep snagging my guys. With having no first rounder, I've found it even more imperative not to screw up a pick.

Winslow is good, but Witten would have been better.
I'm actually pretty happy with Rudi at 3.12
Coles or Bowe would have definitely been better than Evans

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my next 2 picks yet so I haven't predrafted. I've been going back and forth on a couple of options. I'll keep an eye on things until about 8pm EST and then I won't be around to check back in until about 11:30pm EST.

I almost took Rudi instead of Kevin Smith ... but I'm concerned about Rudi's hammy and was looking more for a potential keeper.

Today is my daughter's 16th birthday so we will be out tonight and I won't be available.

Ahhh 3rd RB chose Chester Taylor, why, well AP is no lock for a 16 game season, and Chester has proven to have the capabilities of a #1 RB.

Phones have been sporadic at best. Got both your call logs about an hour ago. My cell was working until about 10:30 but now it's down again. Raining like crazy right now. Already had about 10 inches so far and expecting another 10 by tomorrow night. The storm has stalled right off our coast and we're getting pounded right now. Can't believe the power is still on (knock on wood).
