OK, it's less than a week before games kickoff....

Rules by decree:

1) Spreads posted on Tuesday morning. If a game is not listed Tuesday, it is considered off the board. All spreads posted in thread marked "WEEK X SPREADS" are final as posted. Covers dot com is our source for spreads.

2) Make a pick in 5 games. Weight 5 picks by confidence (5,4,3,2,1). Points given to each correctly picked outcome. 15 possible points each week. Anyone not submitting a pick set in a given week will be deducted 5 points from their score.

3) Post picks in forum thread marked "WEEK X PICKS". Pick sets must be made by kickoff of first game selected. EX: You pick a Thursday game, all five picks have to be in by Thursday game kickoff. No changes allowed after first game kicks off.

Any questions, issues with these? Let me know ASAP.

Here's one thing that definitely needs to be hashed out, but not necessarily by next week:

4) Points are accumulated weekly. There are 15 regular season weeks, and the bowl season. Winners are determined at end of season.

a) End of season option 1: continue the game through the bowl season weighting all 34 bowl games (like TOS's pool).
End of season option 2: split the bowl season into two or three separate "playoff" weeks where we do the 5 pick thing. Perhaps weighted differently than the regular season.

My $0.02, weighting the entire bowl system seems like it makes the regular season moot (and doubles up what we'll all do in TOS's thing anyway). I'd prefer to divide it up into some kind of up to x-mas, x-mas to new years, new years to BCS type separation of the games, just to kind of keep things consistent with the regular season.

I'm In and I vote to end the contest at the end of the regular season. I usually play in 2-3 bowl contests and I would prefer that this doesn't run into the bowl games. But, if I'm voted "against" I will follow what the majority wants to do. I will do the 3 contest separations if that's what the majority wants.

I made one slight alteration to the 'rules by decree' involving -5 points for unsubmitted picks.

I dont think you should be penalized for not getting your picks in. Your weeks total of points will already be "0", why punish 'em more?
