No it is not necessary but we use it as the safety net that Pengy suggested. We have had some minor glitches in the past, (not being able to log into MFL), and other little things so we just have gotten used to posting the lineups. It is not mandatory at all but consider it also gives eveyone one more chance to laugh at your starting lineup.

Also you do not need a backup player. That is in there as that is one of our tiebreakers for the playoffs but has zero to do with the regular season.
