I am leaving for vacation on Friday September 5th and not returning until Sunday September 14.

I will have a chance to check line-ups and such only briefly when I am away. I am camping and fishing in the mountains in Maine, and it's a 45 minute trip to the place where there is net access. I will be there a couple of times during the week, and that is when I will check in.

I am the defending fishing champion 2 years running, so wish me luck on retaining my title

I will be fishing with Jensen Rabbit Hair jigs and Rapala X-Raps almost exclusively, and on a one piece rod for the first time. Both are new equipment for me. It's a new challenge

If anyone has any trade offers, I will look at them if I have time. If I don't respond, or if I respond with a "I need an answer back on this fast", it's only because of a lack of available time

well, have fun and catch lots of fish. take a cell phone, a gps and some type of communication with the real world. if you need tips, tom is somewhat of an expert in this field

Dude....have you ever tried rabbit hair jigs? I have fished with them once, and they own the record for my largest large mouth bass. Day-um.

The Bad News: I only caught 12 fish for the week ( )

The Good News: That's twice as much as anyone else caught. 1 Pike, 2 lake trout, 8 big (big) smallmouth bass and one medium size smallmouth bass.

The problem was that the weather was not conducive to fishing. We had strong winds most of the week, so the canoe and kayak could not really get out into the lake. When we did get out, the fish were too deep and the current too strong to reliably get bait in the right spot. Even the guy using worms (desperately trying to unseat me as the fishing champ) couldn't get a bite. You know when the fish aren't taking worms that the fishing is not good.

The rabbit hair jigs let me down. I caught 2 fish on spinnerbait, 3 fish on wacky rig using 5" plastic worms of various colors, and the rest on mid-suspending rapala x-raps. Nothing on the jigs. We only had one good day of fishing. This past Saturday I boated 5 bass in a few hours....but I also let another 5 off the hook.

Bad day of fishing still beats a good day of working...

I looked up that Jensen guy you recommended and bought a couple of those hand-tied RH jigs from him. Taking the boat out next week and will try them out then...
