5.3.1 Some players score points that are counted in more than one-way. When someone returns a kickoff or punt for a touchdown, he gets credit for six points as an offensive player if he is starting and so does the special teams unit for which he plays.

So in the above example, if Dante Hall were started as a receiver on any team he would have scored 6 points for the TD. He receives no credit for any return yardage. The KC DT would also score 6 points for the return. This applies only to touchdowns, and not to fumble recoveries or interceptions no matter the circumstances.

Did we change this rule? If not, I believe RC beat ME g-rant.gif this weekend because I was awarded a 3 point win, and MFL has not given Felix Jones points for his KO return.

I don't recall it coming up for debate....

Seems an asinine rule, if we subscribe to it.

slap2.gif He drafted Felix Jones. He started Felix Jones. Felix Jones busted his ass 97 yards through kickoff coverage to score. Why doesn't he get those points?

People still play like that? :whoa:

Why count the same score twice? If you want to play kickoff and punt returners as offensive score, fine, go ahead, but the DEF AND the player shouldn't both get points, just because you happen to be playing him on the other side of the ball. One or the other should get the points.

I guess an argument could be made that we give the QB and WR both points for the same single TD, but doing it for DST just doesn't pass the smell test with me. Maybe I need to play in more IDP leagues... shrug.gif

I'm pretty sure we've always had this rule - it goes with the thought process of if you want to score points from a kickoff then draft that ST. Kinda like Hester the last few years. You'd never draft him as a WR.
Beaumont
I dont think we ever changed that rule. We should go with what the rules say.
Roller Coasters
I like the direction this thread is heading. I don't remember this ever coming up before. Of course, I have never had to resort to starting a running back that carries the ball three times a game and returns kicks before either.
The Holy Roller

Reggie Bush would benefit from the rule as it stands. As his owner (yo name is Toby!) I will have to vote in favor of the rule as it is stated. The QB/WR logic applies in this situation methinks.

Clubfoothead
I like the rule the way it is even if that bites me in the a$$.

Well, so we're clear: this IS in our rules. I didn't mean to open doubt as to whether or not it was legit. We purge old threads herre, and I recall actually being one of the ones who suggested it.

I simply wanted to make sure that I didn't miss something this preseason in terms of REMOVING it, because the rules do say 2007.

As it is - the change has been processsed.

If you think you've missed out in the past as well (even week 1): too bad.

QUOTE
5.4 Appealing a Score: Sometimes errors occur when statistics are reported or compiled. Any owner may appeal the score of any team if he feels that an error has occurred.

5.4.1 To appeal a score an owner needs to contact the commissioner with his concerns and should present evidence to support his argument. After all of the evidence has been presented, the commissioner is obliged to make a ruling. All scores not already under appeal become final with the start of Sunday NFL play the following week.

5.4.2 If a team score is not under appeal by the start of the following week's Sunday NFL play, it becomes permanent record whether or not it is officially correct in the longer term i.e. two weeks or two decades.

So only last week gets a change - if any.

The settings have been corrected and now punt, kickoff and Field goal returns (think Cromartie) are automatically scored.

Roller Coasters
Thanks for catching that Pope g-bow.gif Karma will reward you this week. innocent.gif

While I don't doubt your lifetime of experience with ignorance, I believe your wetnurse has steered you wrong on this one, babycakes. thmbup.gif

Oh, and if you want to fight, sister sue, I made a thread in this forum so we may exchange politics. It's called "It's the economy, stupid." Meet me there with some facts, if you can find any. Ask your Mom. You may have to shout through the basement door, however.

I've been playing FF for a little while, and in some pretty big money leagues. To think individuals shouldn't get points for a ST TD, well then that says more about you than me ginger.
