I'm OK with it either way... 6-seed, 5-seed, whatever. My only thing is that I would hate to see a team get bumped from the playoffs due to this (even though it worked out this year that it didn't have that kind of impact). I honestly believe it was an oversight... MFL allows the commissioner of a league to set the "tie-breakers" in order once, and doesn't distinguish between different types of tie-breakers. Being that it's an oversight (and I think everyone agrees that it's an oversight, not a needed "rules change"}, it makes sense to remove divisional record from the seedings calculations altogether.
Like I said, though, either way is fine by me, as long as we clear it up for next year. I'm just glad that this "issue" didn't have an impact on who actually made the playoffs... that could have been more ugly.
And, this has been an issue in about four of my leagues this year, so it's something that someone should probably suggest to MFL... Make separate tie-breakers for divisions, wild cards, and playoff seedings, or at least that option for commissioners.
The other MFL "glitch" that I think needs to be brought to their attention is the FCFS waivers thing after Thanksgiving, where players who have played should be locked, but were not.
On another note, this is only my second year, but i really enjoy this league and format... Definitely different than many others, and very challenging to say the least.
