Ditka's Demons roared past his fellow Bears homers to take home the Halas Distinction of 2007. Total: $50.00
That we switched it to 16 weeks after the first year. That's what I belived this morning before I started poking around. I'm unable to find the suggestion or vote on the change. Anyone else know?
Ok - on with the previews!
Great Grabowskis @ Titletown of Lambeau - The "From Near Worst or Worst to First Semi-Final" After last year's finish, both of these guys deftly navigated the vet draft and end up in the playoffs.
They have each chosen identical formations, so this can be a pretty good blow by blow:
QB: Cutler v Romo. Geez, tough one. Cutler's on the road and Romo has TO on his team. Not sure what to hink of the Cowboys soap opera. Which, as an aside I'd like to say: Texas is full of self proclaimed manly men. Yet their favorite team is nothing but a bitch-ass soap opera. And they eat it up. But I digress....I'm gonna give the edge to BJ here. Carolina D is pretty good at home, and Romo will throw to TO to shut him up.
RBs: Williams/TJones v Lynch/K Smith: ouch. Gotta give major edge here to Goop. Straight up nasty. BJ really needs to keep it close in this category. About the only thing nice I can say is your RBs are very definitely and certainly due for Big Games Big John. Good luck here.
WRs: Berrian/Harrison/Calvin v Boldin/Gage/Moss: ahh, now I see BJ closing the gap here. 3 true #1's. Weakest spot if Gage but only if the Titams start wrapping up starters but it's still too early. Boldin is the best WR here of the 6, and I can see MOss being the 2nd best this weekend as well. Perhaps Marvin has gotten his groove back. But the Lions, they, um well they're the Lions. I wouldn't want to be starting any. Edge: BJ.
TE: Miller v Shockey. Shockey's in the bank having not done much. Miller can put Goop over the edge with a score this weekend. Thats tough to call here, especially against Baltimore. I can see him doing WORSE than Shockey. Push.
K/D: Bryant/NYG v Bironas/Atlanta: Bironas is a points machine, but I like the sum of what Goop has going on here. I suspect the NYG prefer to punk the Cowboys in Dallas, and smell blood in the water. You don't think they'll be saying to To: "Hey man, what's up with that? Why ain't they throwing to you more?" after every pass that doesn't go to him?
Overall: Goop's got the hot team. there's no question about that. One of the few bigger surprises than the emergence of DWilliams this year is the resurgence of TJones. And Goop has them both. BJ can pull his bacon out with a WR explosion, and the potential is there. Realistically, I see Goop with about a 15-20 point win. Honestly a matchup where I hate to see either guy lose. You both deserve it. Have fun!
1957 & Waiting @ Aaron Rodgers Says F You: The "We're Both Back in the Playoffs, Biatches!!" Semi-Final. 10 of 12 teams have made the playoffs in three years. These two guys are the ones who have taken mine and egret's spots.
Puddy brings his Pro Set, whereas Fat goes with the 2-2-2 that got him here. I can't belive I';m only just realizing there's breakfast joke or two in there....
QB: Brees coulda done worse and he coulda done better. Overall, I'd be ok, but only ok, with it if I were Puddy. ARodger has been about averaging that so I'm thinking this'll be a wash unless he avoids the picks. ANd with 'wash" I say within 5 points either way.
RB: CJohnson/Rhodes v MJD/LWash:
WR/TE: Housh/Royal/Toomer/Scaife v AJ/White/Cooley/Witten. That's Fantasy Armageddon right there folks. The yardage bonus is a train fat loves to ride, but darn if I don't like puddy's 4some. Toomer might seem a huh? But that guy has been locked and loaded since 1999. I remember he led the NFC in yards late in the season back then. Cagey start. I'm going to go with ARodg here though. It's just too much meat on the table not to expect 3 TDs at least from those guys. And one of them might have 3 all by himself (AJ?).
K/D: Vinatieri/Jets v Rackers/Steelers: Another pair of cagey starts by puddy. He's the Rube Goldberg of Norris. I give the edge to fat though, but puddy keeps it closer than he should with these guys.
So I'll admit it: I think goop is going to win based on the matchup difference he has at RB because we all know that's where the load is carried. Puddy has a similar advantage here, but not as strong and I'm going with the mismatch fat has created at the WR/TE to carry the day for him.
Prediction: Goop v ARodg for Norris Bowl 3.
