Did I win it? shrug.gif

Not unless I've suddenly become a fan of the Lions, Packers, or Bears. wink.gif

How so?
CaP'N GRuNGe
It's based on high pts right?

don't think so...its the best record and I beat Savage head to head...unless I have no idea what I am talking about...

...which is possible....
Puddy
I believe it is highest seed at the end of the regular season. Normal playoff tiebreakers would apply to this as well.
CaP'N GRuNGe
Ack...i thought it was high points...well that just sucks. mad.gif

For the record, I don't really know but I thought it was that way. It makes sense to me at least but what do I know shrug.gif
Savage Beatings
I thought we we're giving it to me based upon awesomeness? Pretty sure someone said that somewhere. think.gif

It's always been points.

Really. Shows how much I know. That's interesting. If our goal is to reward the top team from each franchise why wouldn't we use the same tiebreaker as we do for the playoffs? If we feel that total points is more representative of the better team, we should use that as the playoff tiebreaker as well, no?

I don't have a personal reason to ask this question but I am curious.

Good, I thought I was "losing it" in more ways than one. whacko2.gif

Well, I would say it's another way to reward teams that have strength as shown through points scored, but wind up with bad luck and a crappy record like I did. Of course I'm biased in this particular situation, but I've always liked rewarding at least a little something to high points teams in a fantasy league.

And as long as we're on the topic, I'd like to propose what I mentioned earlier that maybe we look at the idea of a rule change for next year so that the wildcard team is determined not by W-L record, but by giving it to the team who scores the most points but does not win a division. This helps ensure that the playoffs are loaded with the best teams. If not no biggie, but just a thought.

Yep. It does make sense. My locals are big on rewarding points as well (of course there is more money to spread around).

I saw this in Detlef's thread a couple of weeks ago and found it interesting. However the flip side could happen here as well. What if a 5-8 team has two more points than a 7-6 team that failed to qualify. Do they really deserve to get in because of those two points versus a team with a winning record? Just an opposing point of view to that approach.

wierd, I guess when i won it last year i must have also had the best record so thats why I thought that...

+1

It's hard to keep track of why I keep winning it with the lack of competition from my fellow Lions fans shades.gif

That's a good point too.

I disagree with the highest scoring team making it instead of a team with a better record. A higher scoring team may score in a more inconsistent manner than the team with a higher record. That wouldn't make them a better team IMHO.

Yeah maybe, but look at my team this year and the consistency. Of course it's not often you accomplish what I did with a .744 all play record, and an overall 6-7-1 record.

Hey puddy -

That's the first time we doled out the cash, and it's celarly based on points. I don't think I've ever deleted more than 1 topic here and that's the oldest result for "Distinction" I could find. I do recall also, that when we debated it we weren't calling it that, it was just the cool name I cam e up with when I had to figure out what to call it.

So...the debate is still kicking around here somewhere, prolly Aug/Sep 2006ish.

The defense rests. w00t.gif

Yeah, I was just wrong.

I'm starting to warm up to this awesomeness idea however.
