The biggest thing we will be trying to do for next season is combining the 4 leagues into 1 MFL site.

There is a "Deluxe" site that will allow for this, and that will let us accomplish a few things:

1) make sure that all transactions are processed in the same fashion across all 4 leagues, and with an automated and blind approval process (tested this year and moving ahead with confidence to next season)
2) Have the Battle Royale and Consolation Bowl set up in brackets so that the competition can be seen.

This will also save us a few $$, and we are discussing what to do with that. The two ideas on the table are to add the $ to the playoff prizes already in existence OR to create a weekly prize where the team with the highest score across all 4 leagues gets a small token prize. I will let you all know how that discussion pans out.

A token prize? Like a shrubbery?

My only suggestion for next year would be to modify the final payout structure a bit. I think the payout for winning the league should be much bigger than the payout for winning the Battle Royal. Winning the league is the culmination of an entire season, and the Battle Royal is just a Week 16 crapshoot.

Example...instead of $530 for the league winner and $600 for the Battle Royale (assuming 4 leagues), I think it should be $830 for the league winner and $200 for the Battle Royale. Or instead of all the extra league money going to the winner, we could bump up the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place payouts.

***please note I thought this BEFORE getting waxed in the Battle Royal!!!!!*** smile.gif

ETA...I do LIKE the Battle Royal and think it's a fun idea, I just don't think there should be so much riding on that one game...

I don't really agree. Having been in this from the beginning and having been among the small group that hammered out the original set of rules, what you are proposing goes against the grain of the intentions of why the league was formed, at least IMO.

The Battle Royale is really the culmination of the season. Winning your 12 team league is winning the chance to compete for age group supremacy. The leagues are called the Huddle Age Group leagues because the point of the leagues is to have a war between the age groups, not to win a 12 team league. Winning the overall championship should definitely have the biggest prize IMO.

Also, I am not sure why the Battle Royale is so much more of a 1 week crapshoot than any of the three playoff games preceding it. Is it because there are multiple opponents? The championship game has a big prize and is a 1 week crapshoot, so I am not sure I am seeing the difference.

In the end, it is much harder to win the Batte Royale than it is to win the league championship, because you not only have to win your league, but you have to have the best of 48 teams, especially considering the tough playoff run to get there.

As with all other suggestions I will put this in the box for off season discussions, but those are my thoughts as to why I would not be on board.
