This discussion will outline our draft position limits. This past year it was noted that there were several players who were getting passed on based on the fact that the players were not designated correctly in MFL and due to the limitations we have set for the draft. The current rule is:
CODE
6.3 Position Requirements
It is required that all teams draft a full 32 player roster consisting
of and limited to the following positions:

2 QB
5 RB
5 WR
2 TE
2 PK

3 DE
2 DT
6 LB
3 S
2 CB

What I've proposed is that we either adjust to 5 RBs & 5LBs then add a spot for CB and maybe DT or DE. The other idea would be to add two more rounds and add one spot to each.

I see no issue here. It's fine as is IMO.

I say leave it like it is and everyone should know this going in. My only concern is if you draft someone as a CB and then they get moved to S, but I think we have already addressed that as well.

Only an issue if the change happens mid-draft, as IIRC, we adjusted the rules last year to allow flexibility during the season to help facilitate/encourage trades and waiver movement.

I see no compelling reason to change it (especially as having these limits in place is helpful to the new to IDP group, and I still feel I am even heading into my third year), but I certainly would not be opposed to adding a little flexibility to it as proposed.

I had an issue with it because MFL kept saying they would update the player list. They said twice "next week" and it didn't hapen until just before the season.

I drafted thinking certain players would be designated according to their new designations. Since the draft was tight when I drafted a FS that was really a SS I don't have one strong safety after the draft.

This could have been rectified by loosening the 2 SS 2 FS draft rule. It worked out but I felt the drafting rules were too tight because MFL didn't update quickly. One player had played SS the second half of 07 and still had an old designation.

I'm not in MSHB2 this year but this thread seems to be about the problems I had and I thought I'd explain mine.

This isn't really true. The rules state you have to draft 3 safeties and is not specific to what type of safety you draft.

This is the correct answer, doesn't matter if they are FS or SS shrug.gif

Please no change

No change, but all the noobs should be made aware going in. I failed to either rerad correctly, or at all, and found myself thinking I'd be able to draft more at a certain position later in the draft, but couldn't due to limits. Not a hugh problem, but needs to be known to all.

I may not have done it this season, but I usually post a "things to remember" thread that includes such info as just a reminder. I'll keep that in mind for the next draft.

Not a big deal. You may have done that and I just missed it shrug.gif

No opposition here, the rules remain the same regarding draft position limits
