This discussion is to revise the process by which we are able to claim players put on waivers.

The current rule:
CODE
4.2 Reclaiming Waived Players
If a franchise waives a player and wishes to reclaim that player, the player in question must clear one week of waivers.

Suggested revision:

Suggestion for 2009 - Any player dropped during the week can not be claimed by any team until they have cleared one waiver period, not just the team that dropped them.

Much like the waiver system is not a FCFS free for all to prevent an unfair advantage going to those with regular internet access, I believe the same should hold true for all dropped players. The current rules allow any recently dropped player to be immediately claimed by any other team. This presents a distinct advantage to those with the regular internet access throughout the day (not singling anyone out, but the drop of Jeff Garcia and reclaiming of him 15 minutes later is a prime example of this).

It'e pretty standard issue that players dropped in a week can't be claimed until the following week. Fine with me.

Agree.

Waiver period open to any player. Dropped players are locked until the following week's waiver period opens up.

FCFS open to any player not just dropped.

Rinse and repeat.

No distinct advantage given to anyone with regular internet access, as all players must go through the open waiver period before they can be claimed via FCFS.

This is a discussion thread, but there has been no opposition to the clarification of the rule to include all teams. Unless any opposition arises between now & our draft the new rule will take affect this season.
