This didn't get much support at the time, but it was brought up by another owner as well so I'm going to address it...

This discussion outlines the weekly placement of our double-header match ups. It was noted this past season that the playoffs seemed a little too much up for grabs towards the end of the season based mainly on the double-headers.

Current Rule:
5.1 Schedule
CODE
The length of the regular season will be 13 weeks. Weekly league games will be played head-to-head against opposing franchises. Each team will play each division rival twice and all other foes once. Doubleheaders will be used in non-bye weeks to accommodate this.

Suggestion:

Suggestion for 09 - Reducing the end of year impact of double-headers. I'd like to make it to where teams are able to recoup their losses in double headers over the course of the season by making the first three weeks double-headers and the final being on week 11. By doing this it will also allow us to have a somewhat clearer playoff picture towards the end of the season.

I see no issue here. It's fine as is IMO.
Big John
I prefer it the way it is, as more teams are still alive later in the season and too many early DH losses can be a major setback.

I, also, dislike the idea of DH the first three weeks. Maybe one during the first three weeks, but not all three.

I agree with all 3 of these fine gentlemen. It makes more sense to have a better chance of getting into the playoffs late instead of being knocked out early.

Agreed.

If anything, maybe spread them out throught the weeks, but, if at all possible, avoid the weeks with byes.

We'd have to see the schedule this week, but assuming byes don;t start until week 3 and end in week 10 (again, pulling from top of head based on this season, I may be off a week) putting a double header in week 2 and then a few after the last NFL bye week IMO would be ideal. While managing bye weeks is an important FF strategy, I would prefer double headers not fall during byeweeks when teams are at varying levels of strength, put them when each FF team is at full strength.

This one makes the most sense if we are to change anything.

yep.....i hate comin outta the blocks with doubleheader loses

Need to keep the bye weeks at the end. It's much better to have more people alive at the end than for a team to be knocked out in the 1st 3 weeks.
Bring Back Pat!!!
Either keep them at the end, or add maybe one week to the pre-bye-week weeks, but only if it's not week 1. A doubleheader week 1 can be a season killer, depending on who you play.

No issues noted, schedule remains the same.
