helmet.gif The combine is over, and we are in the home stretch of our "Rolling Dynasty" concept. Unbelievable and very impressive! clap.gif

We have a few things to vote on, but first please take a gander at our new website. MFL has tweaked a few things this year, the main one of which is: you need to tweak your password to include both a number and letter. It affected noth me and the commish password so I'm sure there are more to come. Also, please check out your rosters, as I made the migration and moves so your roster on this year's site is as it ended last seasons. The 2008 website is now locked for posterity.

And that brings us to the "final overhaul" towards our locked, Dynastic rosters.

OK - so the final paragraph that shapes this off-season is found in section 10.2.3 here, and is broken down into the following:

I've numbered what are essentially our steps towards getting everything ready. Some things we'll need to vote on and I'll set those threads up once everyone has poked their head in here.

QUOTE
10.2.3 2008 to 2009:

.1 - Draft orders will be based on 2008 results.

.2 - One week prior to the 2009 rookie draft, taxi squads are locked and cuts and/or promotions will need to be made if any franchise wants to make more room on their taxi squad.

.3 - These can be made at any point during the off-season.

.4 - Prior to the 2009 Veteran Draft, all Norris franchise rosters must be cut to meet a total of 15 active players on the franchise's roster. No more, no less.

.5 - Rosters will then be expanded to 20 or 22(yet tbd), and the Final Veteran Draft will begin.

.6 - At the end of this draft, all teams must meet the new expanded roster size before kickoff of the first game of the 2009 season. Either through waiver moves, trades, or taxi squad promotions.

Other rule suggestions here:
http://forums.thehuddle.com/index.php?s=&a...t&p=2754103

.7 - Eliminate 3rd place bump in draft/waiver slots. (not for this year)

.8 - Do we want another Scrub Draft?

.9 - Cap team D/STs at 3 per roster.

A few other things that we need to do: unless there's a general outcry, I'd like everyone who has players allocated to the IR clear those spots and come in at 18 Active Roster spots in 2 weeks - by Midnight March 10th. I know this might sound arbitrary, but MFL has already cleared these guys and we did leave the off season IR-issue as unresolved. I'd like to give everyone a fair amount of time to look at any roster issue, but also get everyone back onto a fair playing field before going TOO far into the Free Agency period. There are a few teams that collected quite the stock of IR'ed players. Big John has 5(!) through no fault of his own. Clearing that logjam will be key o getting our whole off-season rolling.

Any other rules people would like to put to a vote?

Do we have a date set for the rookie draft?

I'll look at my roster later when I have access. When do waivers open back up?

Not before everyone finishes their drops by the 10th.

Last year IIRC, I think we did the rookie draft with our full Taxi Squad form the previous year still in tact, and then we did cuts and promotions after the rookie draft but before the Vet draft. I'd like to continue with that order of events.

Yes. There should be no reason to change that course of events.

New site looks great Pope.

Question on the IR.

There were some players that you moved to IR for us due to their NFL status during the season. Some were on our TS. Those players should be eligible to return to the TS instead of the active roster, right? For example, Demetrius Williams should go back to my TS.

I'm not sure the site will let us do that ourselves.

You can do it. You have to first move to your active roster from IR and then demote to taxi squad. I did that with 2 or 3 of my players as they went from TS to IR last year. You need to be have at least one open spot on your active roster to shuffle them through.

I don't think we need a scrub draft at this point, but I woudln't be totally opposed if the majority wanted one. I would however like to re-explore the idea of being able to pick up a Veteren FA that has never been on a Norris roster, and add them directly to our Taxi Squads.

Agreed.

There was a mix-up in the 2008 --> 2009 player transitions for my team. Antonio Pittman was promoted to my active roster while Tim Hightower was put onto the TS. I've fixed that issue, but want to make everyone aware of what went down.

What's the problem? Email notices? unsure.gif
Savage Beatings
I just bumped a thread from 2008, which also contained quotes from 2007 before regarding the sequence of events (which was carried over from 2006. I just want to make sure we are being consistent again this year, because I think the way our rules are written does not reflect the way we have actually been doing things.

Here's the quote from 2007:
QUOTE
I agree, and want to emphasize... very important... I think that we shouldn't have to make our cuts and/or promote anyone to our active rosters, until AFTER we have declared our keepers for next season and AFTER we have done the Vet draft.

So the order of events should be something like this...

1) Scrub Draft (are we doing another one of these?)
2) Rookie Draft (all players go onto your Taxi Squad which is temporarily expanded to fit all current Taxi Squad players plus all new rookies/scrubs)
3) Declare Keepers (all non-kept players go back into the pool for the Vet Draft)
4) Veteran Draft
5) Promotions & Final Cuts (Taxi Squad must be brought back down to 10 players at this point)

I think that this particular sequence of events is very important... it allows you the greatest amount of freedom at each step of the way, to evaluate the talent of the players on your roster, and then to devise a strategy for which players to go after in the next step.

I'm sorry that I have been out of the loop. Did we decide on a scrub draft?
