Figured a thread where we can post the gear we have could be a good resource.

Someone might have something that you are interested in and you will be able to ask them their opinions on it etc.

Love it. I specifically bought it to take pictures of my daughter when she is competing in karate tournaments. Those gym lights suck. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to use it under those conditions. I did use it a few times to shoot some belt testing at it really helped a lot. It focuses fast and has pretty good bokeh. I'm sure the 1.4 or 1.2 are even better, but for an amateur like me, I couldn't justify the cost for a few more stops.

It's too long for regular indoor use. I'd really like to pick up a 50mm or 35mm for that.

opps I was talking about the 1.2 but it sounds like your 1.8 is a damn nice lens and at a savings of about $1200-$1400 vs the 1.2 makes the 1.8 MUCH more affordable for sure

Just got my wife a Nikon D60. Only gotthe standard 18-55mm VR lens that comes with it.

Am gonna wait to get used to it and play with some of the features before looking into an additional lens, flash etc.

But, used it at Disneyland Thursday and pics seem to come out great, at least on screen. Also used it at mother in laws house on Saturday and also looked great.

From everything I've read, the new kit lenses with the Nikon cameras are considered very good, so I think you will be very happy with it. I think it's a very good idea to shoot with it for a while to see what you find limiting before thinking about buying more glass. Good luck and enjoy.

yup, unless you put food on your table, via photography, this lens is MORE than adequate.
I know some pro's who prefer it over 1.2....true
And the $ savings speaks for itself.
