Sports photography is a passion of mine and I had the joy of spending last week at the National Training Center in Orlando watch college softball -- as my oldest munchkin, Katelyn, is the centerfielder of the St. Michael's College Purple Knights ... SMC opened their season with 10 games down there, and I got to shoot them all ... here's a few images:

Good stuff! I have to say that that pic of your daughter should have the caption:

"DETERMINATION"

Couple more from yesterday's St. Mike's action at SoConn ...

Kate about to nail a runner at the plate from centerfield

Heather (waits to apply) the tag at home for the out

Shot with the Nikon 18-200 on the Nikon D300, uploaded at low res out of consideration for those still trapped on dialup. The flexilble range of the 18-200 makes it a very useful lens for softball -- the overall speed of the D300 to be able to get both ends of a play is a huge delight. I'm interested in renting one of nikon 80-400 lenses to see how that performs in this setting.
