I'm jumping into a meeting, so BJ and Fatman can catch you up but the issue is this:
- Big John should have been picking 11th and Fatman 12th. Whoops.
A solution that appears amenable to both parties at the moment is a trade for Sanchez and Harvin, with Zach getting a compensatory pick in next year's draft.
Past that there then becomes the issue of BJ not going QB-QB and not taking Pat White...which means that performing a >cough< do-over of the 3rd round might be in the cards.
I have to apologize for this, as this is pretty much on me, having made an apparent error in draft order input. We need to wrok towards a solution that's equitable for everyone, since we're all involved.
Please chime in - and the pick I'm suggesting is #31 in next year's rookie draft.

That sucks, but isn't verifying your draft picks the responsiblity of each owner? I'm all for the two working out a trade to make it right between them, but I'm not for any kind of compensatory picks. That basically penalizes everybody else that drafts after that compensatory selection (if i'm understanding your meaning of compensatory pick.)
I don't want to turn this into a big deal, either. I'm open to ideas.

I don't really want to roll back to the end of the 2nd round but if we have to, we have to. Still don't think a compensatory pick is appropriate though.
Tend to agree with Grunge. Especially since they were the last two standing. Honest mistake but not sure if it deserves an extra pick.
Oh and Goop is drafting in my position the entire draft
The reason that Pope came up with the idea of a pick is that Harvin is not who I would've drafted, meaning that it would require a bunch more "undoing" to get things right. We'd essentially have to reset to the 1.12 pick.

I understand the need to make it right between the two parties involved, but I would be pretty ticked if we started re-doing draft picks and I ended up not getting the guys who are currently on my roster.
The fact that we are 3 rounds into the draft before anyone even notices, makes me think that some of the onus of responsibility here has to fall on the owners involved. You can't punish the rest of the league for this mistake that really should have been brought up by Big John before his first pick. If he gets stuck with two QB's then that should be the cost of him not catching it until now.
I don't have a problem with a compensatory pick for Fatty.

I hear you grunge, and am seeking a fair out, without telling two guys to eat it. I failed in administering the draft properly, and there's no rules in place for this. I work under the assumption that everyone should EXPECT it to be working properly. There is a 'no do-over' statement in the rules, but is in the context of "wait- I'm changing my mind" not "the commish did what with the system?"

I don't like it, but I agree. I also don't have a problem with a compensatory pick. I do not like the idea of a re-draft.

And while I'm ok with a compensatory pick next year if that will settle matters, I think that #31 next year is a bit too high.

Have to agree w/ Savage here, but is there anyway the 2 of them could at least try to work things out between themselves first?
Would John have picked Sanchez before Harvin and then would he have taken Coffee? And many more scenarios.
If they can't, then the compensatory pick is the only resolution I see. No way I want to start over from 1.10. The compensatory should be no higher than #47.
Either that or we waterboard Pope!

So what's our next step here?
We're going to be patient and I'm going to stop the clock to work on a resolution for the moment. EVERYONE will be aware of any proposed solution, and if it involves everyone it will be voted on.
In the meantime, because I screwed it up I am taking commissioner privelege and stopping the clock until it is resolved. That seems best to me, but if you anyone disagrees we can vote on it.

Patience is the right move and will hopefully result in the least amount of pain for everyone once the final solution comes around (no that is not a reference to the Holocaust).

We're getting close, and restarting the draft would only stop up the plumbing. The solution might surprise everyone.

Interesting stuff. I'm up for anything, just as long as people aren't too pissed off...
Yeech. I think I'm on board with the consensus, which is:
- Let's try to make this as right as possible with the understanding that this is partially, but not fully, the fault of the teams invovled (this would include me being okay with a compensatory pick of one sort or another... actual pick number up for discussion)
- Re-doing any round of the draft would be too much
- F'n Packer and Bears fans can't even count to 12 without getting confused

Heading home. Will check in later. Once we get moving again I'm looking to move into the bottom of the 3rd round or top of the 4th if player(s) I'm targeting are still around as some of you are already aware via PM. So feel free to shoot me a PM if you want to discuss a trade.

OK - so the gentlemen in question have tradedf Sanchez for Harvin and called it a day. Zach, to his credit, turned down every offer of draft pick compensation (some of which were my own) to avoid further delay or angst.
I apologize to John and Zach, and certainly the rest of the league for this ovversight and lost day of drafting as a result.
Clock opens tomorrow as normal, Big John is up.
