I enjoy the league and would love to see it continue... At this point, though, I believe we only have confirmation from a hand-full of people that are returning for sure. I say we first work on getting 16 owners to return... if we can get to that point, I might be willing to at least co-commish with somebody. I believe Slambo was co-commish with Loaf before, no? My two concerns with this are:

1) I don't have a ton of time available, between work/real life and other leagues. I can't commit to running this thing 100%, but would be willing to help out since I'm on these boards about as much as anybody. I could take the role of treasurer or whatever else needed to be done... I just don't have a ton of time to spend messing with MFL (waivers/draft setup, etc.).

2) If we can't get 16 people again, it kind of defeats the purpose of continuing this league, IMO. The main reason I like this league so much (and want to see it continue) is that it is a very unusual/unique format... 16 teams with very limited roster space. Reducing to 14 or even 12 teams would take some of the fun/challenge out of this format.

I'm not assuming we don't have 16, but I know we've apparently lost Jimmy Neutron and Loaf for sure, and with the economic times we are in (and not hearing from several others), I'm guessing we might be down a couple of more by the time we get a response from everyone. I will work on PM'ing or emailing everyone who hasn't responded (and maybe even those who did say they were in back in December, just to make sure). I will also get ahold of Slambo to see if he would be interested in tackling this commish job, with my assistance.

If you read this and were in the league last year, but have not responded to the "returning in 2009" thread, please do so so we can get an accurate head count. Thanks. smile.gif

As co-commish I did most of the MFL setup and would be more than happy to continue doing so

We've bee pretty successful recruiting from the "Looking for an Owner" section. We had to replace 6 owners acouple of seasons ago and we managed. We better start emailing polk now laughing.gif

I, too, can help out wherever necessary, but I agree we need 16 owners before we do anything.

It sounds like Slambo will be willing to help with anything MFL-related... including, but not limited to, waivers/draft and anything else that can't be automatically transferred from last year's site.

I'm willing to handle collection of dues from 16 owners (some of which we'll need to start recruiting for ASAP), establishing a draft date, draft order by dice roll, etc.

Unless someone else volunteers for the job, or objects, Slambo and I will co-commish the league this year. smile.gif

Once again, for all owners from last year, please respond on whether or not you're in for 2009.

I've given Gopher the MFL Commish password and have asked DMD to make him a mod in this forum.
It's a sad day for me...if you get to 15 and have trouble getting to 16, shoot me a PM and I'll see what's going on.

I know how you feel... there have been very few leagues that I've actually WANTED to leave over the years, but sometimes other things take priority, and you really have no choice. It takes guts to actually make that choice, so props to you. g-bow.gif We'll do our best to come up with 16 without you (since it sounds like you really do have other things going on), but if we have trouble getting to that number, you're obviously the first person we'll contact. smile.gif

Update: I've paid for MFL, so we did get the early bird discount. I'm going to give it a few days to see if we get any more potential (interested) owners, then we'll work on narrowing down our list of 16. We're currently at 12, plus Haywood (who has yet to respond), so we will need 3 or 4 replacements. Once we finalize the list of 16 (I'm thinking towards the end of June), we can work on setting a draft start date. My only stipulation with this is that everyone has paid prior to drafting, which shouldn't be a problem, as I anticipate everyone will have close to a month or more to pay (once we figure out who all of our owners are).

For those who have shown interest in joining... thanks for your patience. I anticipate getting back to everyone within the next few days.

Why don't you go ahead and PM all of us at your leisure with your address or paypal account who are IN as it looks like we have 15 of 16 committed so that we can go ahead and send our dues to you. Just one less thing for all of us to worry about as the days draw nearer.

I for one travel a whole lot and these things seem to take a while to take care of.

On vacation in Florida this week... fly back tomorrow. I'll get this rolling again over the weekend, so everyone can start sending payments, etc.

Update... Half of the league has paid. What I'd like to get done in the next 10 days (by the end of July):

- Get everyone paid up.

- Solidify a draft start date.

- Iron out any rules questions... the only thing I can think of, right now, is clarifying the tie-breakers so that there is no gray area. Didn't hurt us last year, but could be an issue in the future, so I'd like to make it as clear-cut as possible. More on that to come.

Also, I'll be sending out invites to the new owners this week (assuming they've paid). If anybody else has changed email addresses in the past six months, let me know, so I can send you an invite as well.

Also, draft date has been set for Monday, August 17th... we'll go with a slow draft (12-hour timer... weekends included), but obviously I would ask that everyone do their best to check in as often as possible, provide contact information if necessary, and pre-draft when needed.

Not sure if this was set this way for a reason, but when I log on to the site and go under the owner/set up franchise it does not allow me to do anything except change the password. I'm trying to update the contact info as well as import a logo for my team. Is this blocked for some particular reason? Thanks.
