Here's my

...
If it were 100% up to me alone, I would start the draft around August 10-15, knock out a round or two per day, and finish with more than enough time to spare. I think that is very feasible... it's all a matter of getting everyone on the same page, and making that sure contact info is up-to-date, that people are willing to pre-select if they're going to be away for an extended period of time, etc.
Realistically, though, I know that although the above seems very reasonable, it's tough to actually make it happen. Some people prefer to pre-select, others refuse to... I've already been a part of two 8-round drafts that are going to take well over two weeks each to complete... that's an average of a round every two days.
I've already stated that I'll have LIMITED access the first week in August. Does that mean I won't be able to pick? Absolutely not... I'll just have to be more creative than normal on how to go about making my picks and avoid slowing us down. I realize that early August is not a good time to be gone, but real life has to trump fantasy football sometimes. I'll make sure that, before then, contact information is available, rounds pre-selected if possible (and within reason), and if necessary, I'll give someone access to my login to pick for me. Probably not necessary, but given that I don't know HOW limited my access will be, I'm not ruling that option out completely.
Bottom line... whatever we decide on, I'll make it work. I don't think it's too much to ask to finish at least a round per day in ANY draft, much less one that we all know ahead of time is a 40-rounder, but I've been in enough of these to know from experience that just because something SHOULD be able to happen, doesn't mean it WILL. After all, we've known for weeks now that dues were due June 1, yet several of us (myself included) probably won't be paid up by the "deadline." If we can't get that easy part done on time, I'm guessing we're in for a long, painful draft as well.
For what it's worth, I mailed my check today and put an extra 40 cents in postage on that sucker to hopefully get it from CA to NY all that much faster.
