Don't yearly contracts only start on final cutdown? We don't have contracts on players yet do we?

No, any contract a veteran player is currently signed to is still in effect, and remains so through the life of the contract, or until another owner signs the player.

Otherwise the dead year carries forward, and stays on the books until 1/15.

If said veteran player is dropped, it needs to be posted here so that we commishes can notate the dead years in MFL.

Correct but I applaud the effort to post how long of a contract he had.

I dropped that dude who shot himself in the leg, but he was previously an RFA so he had no contract assigned and no dead years.
