I'm assuming we'll do a slow draft on MFL again, so I'm throwing out a couple of possibilities for a start date... please vote and feel free to post any reasons as to why one date or another will/won't work best for you. I'll be finishing a round-trip road trip from CA to MN on August 10, thus the reasoning behind the first option being Tuesday the 11th. I would like to be available to keep the draft moving and make sure we get started on the right foot, and prefer not to start while I'm driving through Utah or Nevada on that Monday... hope everyone understands.

Thanks.

I've always thought the later the draft the better. I have no problems with either date as I always have internet access.

I agree and have no problem with starting on the 18th... We could start even later if we knew for sure that the draft would go quickly, but with 16 owners, I don't want to push it back too far and then have trouble finishing. I figure the 18th gives us enough time that, even if we only complete about a round per day, we'll be done with a little time to spare. Of course, I would love to be able to complete 2 rounds per day... that might not be realistic, considering we're counting on 16 people to check in multiple times per day, pre-select picks, etc.

Last years draft went Aug 21st-Aug 30th, just under 2 rounds a day.

So, does the 18th work? I don't know if we should push it back another full week, so being a Monday, I figured the 18th was about right.

Uh, the 12th is a Wednesday and the 18th is a Tuesday. But if you really wanted to start on a Monday, I happen to be off on Monday the 17th, so that would free me up for the first couple rounds anyway. Either way, I have no access when at work so someone will have to text me with the picks since my last(or my last check in). Loaf did this last year and it wasn't a problem for him.

ETA: I voted for the later, even though it should be the 17th if it is indeed Monday.

ETA again: I always check in right before I leave for work so I'll leave a post on the MFL site as to which pick was the last I have on record. So for instance, if I made my pick the prior evening and 5 more people picked after me, then I checked in in the AM and 2 more people picked, I would post a 3-8, for instance along with the player drafted. That way you wouldn't have to text ALL the picks since my last pick. Does this make sense? Like I said, we never had a problem last year. You don't even have to text, just calll me and verbally give me or the voice mail the list. I'm never away from my phone more than 15-20 minutes at a time.

shrug.gif When loaf said he was not planning on returning, and there wasn't much of a response at first (that was back in June, I think, so it's understandable that there weren't many of us around), I sort of took the bull by the horns, so to speak (with slambo's help). I pretty much volunteered to get everything organized (payments, finding replacement owners, etc.), and slambo is going to help with a lot of the MFL stuff (although I'm getting pretty good at that lately as well, running or assisting with 2-3 other leagues).

So, I don't know if I've been officially "assigned" the position, or anything, but I'm glad to help out and keep this fine league going. Hopefully, I haven't overstepped my bounds... the Haywood thing was a bit unfortunate. Other than that, things have gone pretty well. You're right... this is a very competitive league, and the new owners are about to find out just how difficult this format really is. smash.gif

You didn't overstep your bounds at all. I certainly appreciate you doing this. If I had some sort of office or home based job, I'd probably volunteer, but it's just not possible. I hope you don't mind texting or voice mailing me when it's my pick. And feel free to give my cell number to anyone else who needs to get ahold of me during the draft.
