ETA- Maybe because we're almost in August we can start the dice roll now as well and if you're worried about not getting all the money than the rolls of the owner/s who haven't paid just won't count until all the money's in. If someone doesn't pay then we get a new owner and the previous owner's roll is deleted altogether. No reason to wait.

Guys this is getting kinda sad--as of this morning 6 have not paid the entry fee and also Wolfden 1 has failed to answer any queries about whether he is even playing are not---what do you guys want to do

I thought the league was full and that Wolfden had already responded? I have been hesitant to respond at all since being told to "calm down" after I made a suggestion but things are definitely moving along very solwly and I've been a bit concerned for awhile now about this league. However, I'm going to zip my lip, calm down and just hope everything works out. I figure that with a league this size that you'd like to have at least 2 weeks set aside for a slow draft and possibly time for 1 round of waivers prior to the season and by looking at the calendar it would seem that we're running out of time. Let's not forget to mention that we still need to have all 16 members (who we can't get to pay up) still roll dice which could take god knows how long.

Questions/options...
-Do we have contact phone/cell numbers for those who haven't paid yet?
-Do you want to think about putting out feelers for a possible replacement owner for Wolfden?
-If we can't get a replacement owner for him, maybe someone else would have to step down to make this a 14-team league and being that I'm the newest member I guess that would be me.

I think we should put out feelers for another owner to replace wolfden and we need to put a deadline on receiving payments. We are less than a month away we need to get going.

I understand Slayer, we all have bad days. I figured it was either that or a little new guy to the league hazing.

In regard to finding a replacement for Wolfden, I'm a very optimistic person but think that it's a bit late in the game to find a replacement who has room for another league and would be willing to shell out another $100. We can try but might be stuck. As I said we could always drop to a 14 team league (I'd leave if I had to to keep the league running for you guys) or hopefully Wolfden shows up and everyone pays up within the next week. We need to set the date for this Saturday, Aug. 15th for everyone to be checked in and payments to have been received or at the very least each owner stating that they sent it. So that we can begin the dice roll and sent a starting draft date within a week from Sat.

I told Swmmi via PM that I was definitely in and would send the check when I got back in town from vaca. Just got back tonight. Check will go out beginning of this week.

I'm all for keeping the league size at 16.

As I would obviously also be. However, what happens if Wolfden never shows? We are down to 15 and then what happens if we can't find a replacement which would be very tough to do? We could either keep the league going with 14 owners by having one (me) drop out or the league is dead for this year. Right?

Just got a PM from Tru Soldja...he was away last week, and his check is in the mail today. Mine should have arrived over the weekend.

this draft, in past years,has typically taken 10-11 days. As long as we begin drafting by 8/24, we should still be OK....that would give us 17 days to complete the draft, since the season starts September 10th. if we can start earlier, great, but we still should be alright.

No need to panic just yet, but we are indeed getting closer.

What about Wolfden? Any word from him? I'm not really worried about those who have already stated that they're in, getting their monies in. I'm more concerned about whether or not we'll have 16 owners if Wolfden doesn't show. He also happens to be one of the guys who hasn't paid yet.

Same here as he's next in line for a spot in my JLA FFL BoTH league. I know that's he's since signed on after I sent my PMs, so he's gotten them and just hasn't responded. Never a good sign and that's why I'm concerned.

We have a number of owners that are on vacation at various times over the next 3 weeks, and have intimated that they will have limited internet access during those times...only able to check-in once a day, etc.

The draft has taken 10-12 days to complete in prior years, so assuming it takes a few extra days to complete this year, that puts completion right up against Labor day weekend, when a lot of people are heading in a million different directions.

I was originally thinking we could wait until the 24th, but since its apples-to-apples for everyone in terms of knowing depth charts/injuries/etc., there is no reason we can't start 7 days earlier to be sure we get it done.

Agreed with this, especially in a 16-teamer. You draft a key guy and he goes down in the 3rd preseason game and you're basically screwed. However, I'm willing to play it however the majority sees fit or If Swammi and Beef put their feet down, that would probably work as well.

Okay about the start time--last year my pick was Brady in the 1st round and that turned out okay for a 16 teamer so lets get started when everyone has rolled

thats a risk for everyone....but its just as big as the potential reward of being in the right position to be able to draft what was going to be a back-up in the 14th round that now is suddenly fantasy-relevant because the 1st stringer got hurt.

If your guy goes down in Week 1 or Week 2 or Week 3, you're basically just as screwed as him going down in preseason. Injuries help some teams, hurt others....and whether its preseason, Week 1, or Week 10, we are all at the same level of mercy of the fantasy gods.

This is the truth the only difference is it's a lot easier to stomach when it happens during the real games versus during the fake ones and knowing you're up sh!t's creek without a paddle and the season hasn't even started. However, I understand there are more risks and conversely chances of drafting surprise players earlier. I was just stating the obvious but am ready to roll when you guys are. I'll be sitting pretty with a pick anywhere between 4 and 9.
