Regarding the recent trade:

Jerks From Nowhere gave up:
Smith, Kevin DET RB
Year 2009 Draft Pick 1.04

General Itals gave up:
Gore, Frank SFO RB
Year 2009 Draft Pick 5.06

Doesn't Jerks from Nowhere not have a first round pick to give if he is keeping Frank Gore? I would think that if he gets Frank Gore then the earliest pick that he could give would be his second rounder assuming that he doesn't keep any more players.

From the league rules page:
For every player kept, a team forfeits a draft pick in the following order of priority:
original 1st round pick;
original 2nd round pick;
original 3rd round pick;
earliest 1st round pick acquired by trade;
earliest 2nd round pick acquired by trade;
earliest 3rd round pick acquired by trade; then
the next earliest pick available.
However, if a keeper is cut or traded prior to the draft, the draft pick initially forfeited to keep that player remains forfeited.

Given this doesn't it allow Jerks from Nowhere in essence "two" first round picks by keeping one player and trading a first round pick?

No. Since there is no 1st round pick to use. Keepers would be attached to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th as pursuant to the rule. See the bolded portion above. Basically, Frank Gore would cost a 1st(traded) and a 4th(actual).

Ok. So if only Gore is kept and since Jerks traded his first rounder, Gore would be attached to his second round pick and Jerks first pick would come in round 3. Correct?
Assuming Jerks keeps three players, Jerks first pick would be in the 4th round. Correct?
I think I understand. Thanks.

No. 5th round would be the first open pick.

No. 5th round would be the first open pick.

My bad... You are correct. Thanks.

So, how does mine work out? If I keep three, do I lose my 1st, 2nd and 3rd, which is the order of priority listed, or do I lose my 1st, your 1st, and my 2nd, which would be the three highest picks?

Your keepers will be attached by order of priority. Your 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The 1st round pick you have acquired is an open pick.
