Double-head is very easy to set up on MFL... I can help if needed.

As I mentioned previously, I am anticipating having limited internet access during parts of August 1-10. My wife and I are road-tripping from CA to MN for a camping/golf trip. However, in no way will I let that hold up this draft... I'll bring my laptop and iphone, and obviously provide contact numbers as we get closer to the draft. As a LAST resort (in order to avoid having any of my picks skipped), I will probably also try to create some sort of draft list... My only fear with that is that I don't want to find out that we've made it through round 3 of the draft without anybody trying to contact me for my picks. In other words, like I said, if I create some sort of list, the intention would be that the list only be used if I can not be reached after several hours (timer expires).

That said, there will be periods of time during that 10-day stretch where I'll have no issue getting online, so it's not like I'll be AWOL for 10 days straight. I'm just not sure how well my iphone will cooperate, driving through Nevada, Utah, etc. and then camping for three days in MN. On the other hand, while I'm away, I definitely have no issue with someone attempting to call/text me when I'm up, rather than letting the draft stall due to my situation... In fact, I would prefer that they do try to contact me.

The two things I hate the most when it comes to drafting are lengthy stalls in the draft, and having to pre-draft multiple rounds in a row... I'll do everything possible to make sure neither of those happen. smash.gif

Connie never did get his draft list... and I called his cell this morning and left a message. We have decided to use the ADP for Gopher's draft list. Since the timer expired, the Jennings and M Barber picks will stand, then commisioner selects S Smith, WR, Car before Fraz's two picks at 2.12 and 3.1 based on ADP ranking.

This seemed to be the best way to handle Gopher's limited internet access problem for the time being. Gee, this commisioner thing is SO much fun! I took yesterday afternoon off to deal with the Eraser problem, and now I'm off to a late start being backed up from yesterday... enough whining... is this solution OK with everyone?

Sorry... After all of the issues getting this draft started, I didn't know it would get back to me so soon. I did leave a post yesterday afternoon, as well as an email to Connie, letting her know which phone number I could be reached at. Maybe she is not around, though... Oh well. I'm fine with the Smith pick , but I'm not quite sure why I was given Boldin after only 30 minutes on the clock? I guess I'll do my best to work with it. Should be back to regular access tomorrow night, and I'll pre-draft round 4. Otherwise, call 925-817-7089.

Maybe so as not to hold up the draft another 12 hours?? wink.gif think.gif wink.gif But if you want to trade him, give me a shout.

Not an easy situation for the commishes to be in. No draft list as promised and a different cell phone than previously provided...I probably would have done the exact same thing, John.

And he still ended up with two WRs I would have been happy to have myself at 3.06! smile.gif

Good call. thmbup.gif

Difficult situation for sure. Afraid I would not have been so generous.

Connie made a decision to draft Boldin for Gopher... in hindsight, waiting 12 hours might have been the way to go, sorry Gopher.

Gopher, in the meantime, you are up to pick again, and MFL bypassed your pick with a "timer expired" message... no clue whyy you did not get the 12 hours, MFL screwup.

Just spoke to Gopher... rough connection, but I will make a pick for him tonight. hoping to hear from him once more before making the pick. Told him who was available... his pick will be made tonight.

Gopher made his pick.... turmed the pause off (I think whacko2.gif ) at MFL.... picks can continue.

I had looked for the email gopher had sent me with a different cell # and couldn't find it anywhere, I was looking thru 3 different email addresses. I see that Karl is back up and I have called and left a message on the correct celL# and asked him to call me with his pick

Thanks again everyone with your patience -growing pains of a new league whacko2.gif

OK, so I'm finally back into civilization... Drove literally straight through from San Jose, CA to the eastern side of MN, about a 30-hour drive, on Saturday/Sunday. Along the way, I checked on the status of this draft probably 30 times (had internet in and out during the trip through my Iphone). Last time I looked (before losing all connection with the real world), we had made it through five or six picks... and that was technically 30-40 hours into the draft. Drove into the nearest town to check in again Monday morning... still absolutely ZERO progress. It was at that point that I posted this in the draft thread, or the closest thing we had to one:

No Internet until Wed evening where I am at. If this gets going soon and gets to me, call my 925 number, which is listed on the contacts thread. Might have some signal on that. Snuck away to send this from iPhone, but that won't work from where we are staying. After Wed afternoon, I will have no issues. Thx.

in reference to this phone number:

I thought I emailed Connie as well, but it may have been a text that I sent instead (I think I replied to one that you sent me??). Anyway, needless to say, after almost no movement for about two and a half days, I was pretty surprised to find out that I had timed out on Tuesday morning... with no phone calls to the number I had requested. Regardless, I'm not going to make a big deal out of this, or point the blame at anyone but myself.... As a couple of people have noted, I never provided the draft list that I had hoped to complete. I simply ran out of time, trying to get a bunch of stuff done before going on a somewhat complicated vacation. I'm not exactly thrilled to have gotten Boldin after 30 minutes OTC (and no, it can't be justified based on the fact that my previous pick timed out... that's BS), but I'll make it work. Nothing can be done about that now, but no excuses... I still plan on building a successful/competitive team in this league.

As far as the three people who have offered to trade for Boldin... I'm always open to trade offers, but I'm not going to sell a WR cheap just because I'm a little weak at the RB position. Sorry. biggrin.gif Anyway, sorry for the holdup... never intended to be that person who can't be reached in the middle of a lengthy draft. I should be good to go, going forward. smash.gif

By the way, thanks to John and Connie for doing everything they can to keep this moving smoothly, despite the difficulties so far. John, you were more than helpful on the phone last night, despite the crappy connection... I literally had to stand in one particular spot, in the middle of a bunch of pine trees... moving a foot in either direction caused our conversation to cut out, as I'm sure you noticed. laughing.gif

Gopher, no problem, was glad to help out a little. To be honest, I don't think you made out too badly... I almost took S Smith over R Wayne right in front of that pick I made for you based on ADP. Connie must have thought you were completely out of touch on the Boldin pick, but T Jones isn't a horrible RB to have, having led the AFC in rushing last year, Lynch would have been a second round pick if not for his 3 game suspension, and LJ could bounce back with a very good year.

Your pick of Willis in the first really changed the complexion of you roster. Had you cone RB there, your rosted would look very different I think. Glad you are back in civilization.... whacko2.gif

We tried to be fair, and I was not about to let your picks get forfeited. BTW, I am interested in Boldin too.... let's talk after the draft is done! smash.gif

By the way, my post above was meant to an explanation of sorts, and definitely not a complaint in any way. I just wanted to let everyone know that I WAS trying to check in and keep things moving, and did attempt to leave contact information that would have helped the situation if it had been used earlier. Also, I was able to locate the email to Connie that I was referring to... it was in my "Sent" file in my Hotmail account from my Iphone. I couldn't see it in my regular Hotmail account, though, which may explain why Connie apparently didn't receive it. Not sure why/how that would be the case... this using email/internet from my phone thing is still somewhat new to me. whacko2.gif bag.gif

Anyway, it appears we're making decent progress, and my team is starting to take form... I'll start a Draft Commentary thread for more on that.

I was thinking about starting a draft commentary thread too. I can see big variations in draft strategies in this draft. I think drafting RB's as late as you did still got you good value at the position.

For me, I wanted to lead the LB run, and am pretty happy with Beason and Ryans, but it cost me at WR, especially going heavy on RB early.
