Please note that I will not be available to make any picks on starting 8/8 (Saturday) thru the evening of 8/10. After that, I am good to go!!!
I've been unemployed since February, but start working on Monday 8-4 Central. I'll make use of the pre-selections and my brother for help, so I shouldn't be a burden to the draft by any means. Lets get this bad boy rolling!

Congrats bro!
I'll be corrupting the youth of our country as a high school math teacher. I basically got a 20k raise, weekends, holidays, and summers off vs the golf industry, go figure

+1...except tomorrow. I'm in Pittsburgh with my CEO, making an important client pitch! Shouldn't be a problem though, as the pace we are going we should be fine.
Perch is on vacation...sent email but he's told me in past that he generally does not check till the evening.
Trade to 2.06: I had to go up and get DWill there. I know all about the toe but to get a player of his caliber to pair with Matt Forte was a no-brainer to me. I had no idea what Gonkis and Perch would do before me and luckily, Gonkis was open to my offer.
Slaton, Fitz, Wayne...looking solid so far Droobie!
Commish -
Just curious... When do you anticipate turning on the draft timer?
I've had some pretty pathetic showings in years past...time to turn things around.

this is why I wanted to start the draft early, I know we're gonna have plenty of days with no picks being made
Let's also employ a little common courtesy...once you've made your pick, email/PM/text/call the team who is now on the clock. If we each take care of this, the draft can pick up some momentum.
Perch is logged onto The Huddle. PM sent.
For some reason, I could not get a text thru to Gonkis last night / this morning. Emailed him at work.
Just out of curiosity, is anyone else in here reaching out to people as well?

value to great to pass on Westbrook here. Also having Ray Rice already in the fold made this pick a no brainer. If Westy is hurt a week or 3, i plug in Rice in his place. If not, I have a potential top 5 back when healthy in this scoring. I looked hard at other options, but none give the upside Westy does, and I love to gamble........

now that the pick after me was made, Jacobs was the guy I really targeted here. Didnt really figure Westy would be there. And when I got on the clock, I seriously debated taking Jacobs ahead of Westy. But the upside for 1 just seemed better than the other, especially since Jacobs seems to miss 2 games a year as well.

You know times are a changin' when people question LT2 at 1.03 and Westy late in the 2nd is "a gamble". You got 2 real solid picks (especially in a PPR) with those two. Well played Sarge.

LY and Westy are probably two of the top three "high risk high reward" players. Sarge will sink or swim with the two.
Colston and Pierre Thomas for TOS. The Saints Come Marching In, I see!
Going along with UIG's "times are a-changin" theme, when Pierre Thomas goes before Reggie Bush in a PPR, times are definitely a-changin!

My time in Louisiana last year has made me a little parital.
I reached ever so slightly on both picks, but Colston is easy top 5 WR last season if healthy. Pierre is risky here, but you don't win without taking some chances. If we all follow similar cheat sheets , then why draft at all.

Sink or Swim isnt exactly what I had in mind when I made those 2 selections.
I dont see LT as a gamble at all. I see him as a risk of not producing top 3 numbers, where I took him at #3. He played every game the last 2 years , even with a bum toe and groin last year. The gamble on him isnt will he miss time, because he hasnt. Its will nagging injuries keep him from reaching his potential. LT was the highest scoring RB in 2007, even while dealing with injuries at just over 21 pts a week. Westy was the #2 scoring RB in 2007, and he missed a game. He also avgs just over 22 pts a week, which were tops in that category.
Fast Forward to 2008, and Westy was the #6 scoring RB in the league, while missing 2 games. and #2 in scoring avg with just over 18 per contest. LT didnt miss a game, but dealt with nagging injuries all season, and still finished as a top 10 RB, and avged 15 pts a week, a whopping 11 total pts over the course of 16 weeks behind our #1 overall pick, Adrian Peterson. And Westbrook outscored Peterson even though he missed 2 games, while Peterson didnt miss a game. Westy is a gamble, but when I did the research I was surprised to find, he has only missed 3 games the past 2 years, outta 32 games, and has outscored Peterson in each of the past 2 years. Will that happen again this yr, who knows. But to get #1 overall pick in this draft type of production with the 21st pick, is a steal, even if its considered a gamble.
Ray Rice gave me the flexability to take Westy, and not have to waste another high pick on a RB, for depth in case Westy does miss time.
Westy did affect my 3rd round pick. I really wanted to take a WR here, and a top WR was still available, but I couldnt pull the trigger on another risky/injured player at this point. So, I went the safe route, and took the player I had pegged at this spot from the beginning. Was it too high for Rodgers, some say yes. But I needed someone with the ability to have a huge game, every now and then, and still put up good numbers even when he didnt, to compensate my lineup if I had a bad week outta anyone else in the lineup. Rodgers more than any other player gave me that at this point, IMO. id much rather have a playmaker, than passing on one, for just a guy to fill out a roster spot, and hope I get something decent at the position I passed on the playmaker later on. Sure that has to happen sometimes, but at this point, I saw Rodgers as the #1 guy remaining, and no way he was coming all the way back to me. If 3 other QBs go before I pick next, Id be pissed I ended up with just a guy at WR, and just a guy at QB, by passing the one I wanted.
Witten at 3.06...thank you Perch. Not criticizing your pick...I was sweating out Bowe and thought for sure you were gonna grab him.
4.08 - Phillip Rivers. Frankly, I have Rivers at the top of the Tier 2 QB's (behind only Tier 1's Brees, Brady and Rodgers) and ahead of Manning. I'm a value QB guy but when I looked at the board, he jumped out at me right away. I got my 4th rated QB as the 6th QB taken. No more ??? for me at the QB spot, and plenty of depth at other positions remain for me to build the rest of my team.
Building a solid LB corps there BLB...Willis and Ruud. Ruud was the guy that made me take my Rivers auto pick off. I thought about that one...he is in a great position.

I actually seriously considered drafting Ruud with my 4.02. But, the dropoff in RB was way larger than LB. So, I couldn't quite pull the trigger.

nice pick Perch. I considered Roy where I took Braylon. In fact, I may regret that decision. But the Boys offense will be more balanced IMO, and Cle is going to have to throw, because their D sucks ass....

Yea, nice pick. I had him queued at 4.11, hoping that he'd slide to me. I was pretty sure that he'd go before he got to me. I had to change strategies, grab a WR at 4.11, then get Romo at 5.02. I also had Rivers at my #4 QB. Nice grab.

I passed on Lynch thinking Id get Addai. Never thought both would go. But I cant complain about the LB I got. This will take a minute to decide which way I want to go now.
took parker, the first pick Im not crazy about thus far in my draft. ONly positive, is he is in a contract yr, and Mendenall is basically a rookie again, after missing most of 2008.
7.05 Demarcus Ware
Happy he was there, but was still a bit torn on taking him. Thought about filling another position but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that his game, predicated on the sack, allows for him to have more "blow up" games than the guys on my roster and the other player I was looking at. With Mayo and Laurinaitis, I felt I could go for the home run of the blow up game and sacrifice a bit of consistency.

I wanted him at my 6.02. But, there was a bye week conflict with Jones. That's why I had to settle on Ward.

I think Monday we can start a draft timer. Not on the weekends however.
Maybe set it for 8 hours. Once the first 12-15 rounds are done, pre-selection should be used more hopefully.

Like all of us, I'm really feeling the early part of my draft. I think I may have reached a tad with P.Thomas , but I wanted him.
Lynch feel in my lap, I was aiming for a WR there, but I think 7 or more were taken in between my picks and the best player on the board bar none had to be the choice.

I don't think you 'reached' with P. Thomas... Especially since Bush's knee has been swelling. By mid-season, you'll be glad you took him where you did.
Guys -
If you don't plan on checking the draft board every once in a while, how about Pre-Drafting for your next pick!
