Opie, you can trade down in rounds that you have a keeper with a high pick in that round. You then keep the same player, but with a lower pick in the same round.

If you are keeping a player that is a second round keeper, you only need pick 2.12. If you have pick 2.03, then it is to your advantage to try to trade down and move up in another round. These are usually the kinds of trades that happen in the week before the draft starts.
