Slaton going third to BS Miscreant has to be somewhat of a surprise.

From an ADP standpoint it certainly was, but I had Slaton last year and he was worth his weight in gold...and then some.

I see you got Peterson at 1.2 and I got the guy I wanted at 1.9 (Andre Johnson). So far, so good on our trade.

Yea it was a bit of a surprise but he also does project to see most of the action for the Texans aswell including getting a fair share of receptions at the same time, whilst not the player i would have taken at that pick it can be argued that he is possibly worth the pick.

On a side note I wanted to land either Forte or Turner with my 1st rounder getting Forte gives me about as good a fantasy RB as there is this season.
BS Miscreant
Yeah, Slaton's a bit early in terms of ADP but he's a guy I like a lot and without trading out of my spot there's no way to get him otherwise. Not to mention that I'm completely comfortable with him at 3.

Those are the best kinds of trades. I also managed to bag Portis with 2.11, so I'm very satisfied with the results. Your AJ/Westbrook combo ought to work pretty well for you.

That's all that counts.

Well, aside from Slaton going at 3 overall(no surprise to me), this has been a pretty pedestrian draft thus far. I guess everyone is seeing pretty much eye to eye on things. I do appreciate the stability but it's not very interesting. I'm sure that will change though.

FFers have gotten so good at acquiring information that instead of 1 round of predictable by-the-book picks, we're now seeing 4 rounds of them. It's after round 6 where things really get interesting and the wheat is separated from the chaff.

It doesn't hurt that most of us all get our info from the same place. I think that we will start differing soon on players.

On a side note, I've been in local leagues where people don't have a clue and stray from the "census" draft picks. Sometimes it works out for them.

One guy in All Pro is clearly distancing himself from the others. Not mentioning any names here.

Busy week for me... if it gets to me and I'm not in the live draft room, or I don't pick within a few minutes (I may be "in the room" but not actually in front of a PC), feel free to text me at 650-288-9493. Thx. smile.gif

Uh, you did mean distancing myself above the rest, right? unsure.gif

Hey it's preseason. We're all good. wink.gif

Not sure how excited i am with my team so far off to a solid start with Forte and Brady however the 3 picks after that in Roy Williams, Braylon Edwards and Marshawn Lynch all come with there convictions I guess I am banking pretty heavily right now that atleast one of them busts out for a real good year.
tomfin2000
So far, so good for me. After seven rounds, I'm where I expected to be in terms of the quality of players at each position. I might have come out a little further ahead if I had taken Kevin Smith at 3.02 instead of Roddy White and then Eddie Royal at 5.02 instead of Joseph Addai, but I think a lot of that is due to Addai being such an unsexy pick this year because I feel very good about White.

As far as feeling good about my draft goes, the 6/7 swing was the key for me. I knew I needed a RB3 and a TE, so I was either going to walk away with two players that I settled for, two players that I legitimately wanted, or a split. I walked away with Felix jones and Owen Daniels, two players that I legitimately wanted, so it's all good heading into Round 8.

As far as the rest of the owners go, I think everyone is having a solid draft, but if you asked me who I would want to trade teams with through six and a half rounds, it would be Mike's Vikes. The LT/Barber/Moreno/Bowe/Owens core could be deadly and he still managed to walk away with a solid QB and TE in Ryan and Cooley who should both improve on last year's numbers.

Think I made a mistake drafting Gonzo with the 4.04, but I wasn't crazy about the value of the players available there. When in doubt, go with value - and that was Gonzo. Still, I had the feeling that it put me about a round behind eveyone else. Luckily with Cutler being available in the 7th, I feel better about getting caught up. Not crazy about my team so far, but I think it'll play competeively until I screw it up again.
tomfin2000
If it's any consolation, I would have definitely taken Witten, Gates, or Gonzo in the fourth round (regardless of where I was picking) if one of them was available. Having a stud TE is a huge advantage, especially in a PPR. It would be a toss up between Slaton and Gonzo as far as who was my MVP last year.
MikesVikes
With Bowe and TO, I could have a good set of receivers or I might not. It's still a work in progress for several positions.

The Percy has left the building. If Favre is excited about him, that's good enough for me. The dude is lightning fast and unlike others, he catches everything that comes his way. I'm guessing that Favre has noticed that by now. The Vikes will also create plays to take advantage of him. That is why I reached for him. It took alot of restraint to wait a round. I bypassed many good receivers for Percy and he looked better to me last round when I took Hester instead. Now I have both.

Favre has done wonders with rookie WRs before. Of course, he wasn't 40 then, either...

I pre-drafted my 11.03 and the chances of getting back around to my 12.10 by the time I leave at 7:45am are slim to none. Just wanted ya'll to know that there's a chance I will be without access until I get home between 4:30 and 5:00pm. I will look at pre-drafting but that many picks away is a tough one to guarantee anyone will still be there. I've been doing a decent job of slipping away and not taking huge chunks of time so far and hopefully I'll be able to pull it off tomorrow as well.

Just a heads up.

By the way, nice pace on this draft fellas.

A run on 4 RBs just went through on the preselects. It was a tossup for me between Lewis and Graham. I was thinking about Charles as well. I just changed Graham ahead of Lewis this morning just before the picks went through. Breaston was considered but that would've put me in a world of hurt on remaining RBs.
tomfin2000
Congratulations to Half Hennessy who won the Jamal Lewis sweepstakes (via a pre-selected pick) at 11.05. Every year in every draft, there's a player that has cooties and this year, it was Jamal. I almost took him at 11.02 but went with his backup, James Davis, instead. That could turn out to be a mistake if Lewis is able to stay healthy and hold onto the starting job, but most of the other upside/lottery picks at RB were already gone and I know one of you sharks would have pounced on Davis long before the draft comes back to me at 12.11.

I can say that I am absolutely ecstatic that I was worried about absolutely nothing regarding the PS week 3 player replacement rule.

You all are doing a superb job with the pace of this draft. Nicely done to everyone.
half_hennessy
I was actually tossing up between Lewis and Davis with my 11.05 and would have taken Davis with my 12th pick if he had still been around it is hard to be real reliant on Lewis at this stage but if he holds the job he should score fairly well.

on a side not I have been trying to get into the MFL site and can't get in there am i the only one having this problem or is everyone locked out
BS Miscreant
Funny how in tune some of us were in that stretch. My pre-select at 11.03 was Charles, then Graham, then Davis in that order.
