Use this thread for all rounds of the draft. I will be keeping the picks in a seperate post for Canes or anyone else that needs assistance.

I'm in three drafts right now that are all draaaaaaaaaaaaaaging.

I already hate my team. * Sigh * Unless something good happens I'm looking at a long year in Hannibals.

We should be done just in time for the Thursday opener......if we speed up a bit.

Well there's some bad luck too coupled with the difficulty I have preselecting early in drafts. I was on all day from 8:20 am until about 2:00 pm, checking in at least once an hour. All of a sudden I get really busy and realize I hadn't been able to check in for about 2 1/2 hours. 2 1/2 hours you guys were waiting on me. shrug.gif

Sorry guys, but I have a 9am - 4pm MT meeting on Wed and Thur. Then, I have soccer practice start at 4:30, which is 45 mins away from the office. For the next 2 days (Wed, Thur), I will not be able to check in and make draft picks until the evenings of both.

If I'm lucky, I will "reply all" on the MFL Draft Emails with my pick, when it's my turn. Can I lean on a commish-password-owner make the pick in MFL for me?

TIA!

I completely understand about being busy. I'm a father of 2 kids but fortunatly I'm on vacation this week and can focus on my picks. Is it possible to make pre-draft selections so it goes by faster at least?

Just to let you guys know that I'm traveling for three days Friday 4th through Sunday 6th and will have minimal access of any kind and then only in the late evening. I didn't think that would be an issue when we started Monday August 24th but.....well..... unsure.gif

I'm with you bro but the way this is going this might last to the season opener. I am trying really hard not to be a pain in the ass but cmon ppl, there is no reason why you can't pre-select you picks.

Barefooted Kickers draft rehash

I can't seem to hit a good three keepers in this league

KEEPERS
Aaron Rodgers - I am good with this keeper, although I hated to let Tony Romo go
Kevin Smith - an "okay" keeper I guess
Joseph Addai - this guy was supposed to be a rock solid keeper for years g-bash.gif

So I already don't like my start into this draft and my middle of the pack draft slot (7) sucks:

1.07 - Knowshon Moreno, DEN, RB
Skeletor is gone so maybe a Denver running back will get some regular love and Moreno is a highly touted rookie. Maybe I can land a keeper with this pick. I'm going to ignore the fact that a NE coach was brought in and the fact that NE also platoons RBs [ignore, ignore, ignore]

2.06 - Roy Williams, DAL, WR
Tony has to throw the ball to somebody and Witten can't catch them all. Maybe Roy can step up and be a real number 1 WR this year.

3.07 - Donald Brown, IND, RB
I almost hated to make this pick as I already have Joseph Addai but all indications are that Addai is on his way out and Brown is on his way in ... so I am looking for a prospective keeper here.

4.06 - Hines Ward, PIT, WR
Just looking for a serviceable WR2 ... I think that is the definition of Hines Ward

5.07 - Chris Cooley, WAS, TE
I am surprised at teams taking two TEs so early. I had hoped to get Owen Daniels here but probably wouldn't have anyway with CFH taking a TE right in front of me. I'm going to go ahead and take a no-worry TE in this spot to add another average player to an average team.

ROSTER
QB: (KPR) Aaron Rodgers, GB

RB: (KPR) Kevin Smith, DET
RB: (KPR) Joseph Addai, IND
RB: (1.07) Knowshon Moreno, DEN
RB: (3.07) Donald Brown, IND

WR: (2.06) Roy Williams, DAL
WR: (4.06) Hines Ward, PIT

TE: (5.07) Chris Cooley, WAS
Ursa Majoris
Keepers - all RBs

Grant, Ryan GBP RB - obtained by trading away my first round pick to rhino. I think Grant will be much better this year.
Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB - the bulldozer was a no brainer keeper. His injury issues are outweighed by his TD potential.
Thomas, Pierre NOS RB - not sure what percentage of the action Thomas will see but if he pans out, there's years of keeper in him

Draftees

2.03 Gonzalez, Anthony IND WR - a hugh stretch here. I don't like most of the third tier WRs but this guy I do like.
2.10 McNabb, Donovan PHI QB - gotta get a decent QB early and I think he'll continue to be productive with Jackson to throw to. Much will depend on Westbrook
3.03 Olsen, Greg CHI TE - could set records for a Bears TE this year
4.10 Ward, Derrick TBB RB - OK, maybe should have gone WR here and Graham may turn out to be the guy but Ward is nevertheless going to see a lot of action.
REZ
keepers;
P Manning. no brainer. have had him for yrs.
Gore: I was a little iffy but really had no other decent options. Hopefully getting Martz out of there will lead to increased opportunities for him
D Bowe: Love this guy. Had decent numbers with bad qb's. Cassel should do no worse then those guys.

picks: Lynch: Probably too early and I'm not in love with this pick. thought he is decent insurance for Gore.
Wells: he is good rb and I think he'll be solid rb and potentially a top 10 rb.
Berrian: Got to admit, if Favre isn't there I probably don't pic him here.
Winslow: I had him as top 3 TE. it's not like TB has so many other options that he won't put up numbers even with the move from Cle to TB
Hat Trick
Keepers:

McFadden - Debateable keeper. I wasn't in love with him last year but he was being touted as can't miss the same way Peterson was from the year prior. I felt I had to keep him and see how he does this season, hoping he can be at worst a #2 RB for me.

Fitzgerald - No brainer here, I've had him from day one and he's the concensus #1 WR on the board. Loved this kid at Pitt.

Marshall - hmm, do I keep him or LJ? I am not a fan of either guy but its hard to doubt the talent this idiot has. If he stays out of trouble tehn its a good keeper, otherwise he burns me in two leagues and I never draft his @$$ again.

Picks:

#1 - Brian Westbrook - I can honestly say I have never had him in any league. His value in a PPR league cannot be questioned and I am hoping to get one year of production out of him...I had to take him and hope for the best.

#2 - Ray Rice - This guy is a little bowling ball and is quick as heck. I am high on him this year, and getting a starting RB with a good Oline in the 5th round is good value folks. Can he stay healthy?

#3 - Jay Cutler - I was one of the last teams without a QB and Cutler was sitting there staring me in the face. He throws a lot of INT's but he makes things happen with his arm. I haven't had a good gunslinger in this league other than two years ago when I got lucky with Big Ben having a career year that enabled me to trade him for a good draft pick last year.

#4 - Vincent Jackson - I have never been a fan of this guy but his numbers are pretty good and I think SD is going to rely on Rivers arm more than they have previously. With a big target I think Jackson becomes Rivers main red zone target, if not very close to Gates. I needed a WR and I was willing to take the gamble that he can stay healthy and give me some steady production. I already have two #1's so he's a good compliment to what I have already.

#5 - BAL DEF - Um, I'm loving this 4th pick spot in the draft. I have drafted out of this spot in two leagues and ended up with the players I wanted. I waited till the right time and snagged them in the 8th round which is later than they have been going in my other drafts. Pretty happy and hope they can continue their dominance this year.

If my guys can stay healthy I don't see why I can't be the bounce back team in this league this season.
Grits and Shins
Picks that have surprised me so far:

1.08 - Marshawn Lynch, BUF RB. With the 3 week suspension I would have thought he'd fall at least 2 more rounds.

2.11 - Dallas Clark, IND TE. Didn't this team keep Antonio Gates? If there is doubt about Gates why keep him? Does this team intend to use one of the flex spots to start a TE? Seems to me like there was plenty of other value left on the board.

4.12 - Owen Daniels, HOU TE. If I had drafted Jason Witten in the first round (or kept him) I wouldn't be looking to draft a 2nd TE until much later in the draft ... if ever.

There may be more that I can't recall.

I see several potentially deadly backfields, the ones that seem the best to me are:
SJax, CJohnson, JJones
Barber, Slaton, Benson

I see several potentially deadly WR Corps, the ones that seem the best to me are:
SSmith, GJennings
AJohnson, WWelker
RWhite, Calvin Johnson
Wayne, Colston
RMoss, Housh

I think after the first 3 games that he'll be a solid contributor but I went at least one round early.

Um, I'm loving this 4th pick spot in the draft.

I draft 4th in my local this weekend. It is a PPR 12 team redraft league.

I expect AP to go 1, MJD to go 2 ... if Turner goes 3rd I will take LT. If LT goes third I guess I will take Turner

3. Forte

Yeah ... I think I can be happy with either LT or Turner in the 4 hole.

I would be less happy with Forte or SJax at that spot.

I am happy to be drafting 4th ... I hate drafting 6th or 7th like I am in this league.

In F-OFF our keepers cost us the round where we drafted the player. We have to declare our keepers before we know draft position and can keep between 0 and 2 players. I kept Randy Moss for a 2nd rounder and drew the absolute worst draft spot possible - 12. So I had one pick out of the first 35 (not couning my keeper). sick.gif

Draft picks

#1 Ronnie Brown RB-See him having a huge year this season being involved alot more in the wildcat and a contract year. He is fully healed from the ACL surgery and will continue to pound the rock.

#2 Tony Romo QB-Without T.O. I'm thinking he is going to have the best season he has had as a Cowboy. I needed a good QB so I used a high pick to grab him. No regrets even if I'm a Philly homer LOL

#3 Larry Johnson RB-I have a gut feeling that LJ will be a bruiser back once again. He has been quiet the offseason and seems to be having a great relationship with Haley. Being Cassel will need a safety blanket he will have to hand off a ton and LJ is the guy to get those touches. In the Red Zone, LJ is the man simply put, Gonzo is gone.

#4 Lance Moore WR- The Saints have a top 3 offense with the top fantasy QB throwing the ball. If Moore is the #2 WR, theres no reason he cant challenge 1000 yards and 7-9 TDs if he plays 16 games.Despite Moore's smallish size at 5-11 184, he found openings all over the field and scored 10 TDs, with three multiple TD games. I think that he is the real deal and despite all the interest in the rest of the Saints youth, Moore will continue to produce for the Saints.

#5 LeSean McCoy RB- The heir to Westy in Philly. This kid has it all and being I have LT as a keeper I needed to look toward the future and I think McCoy could take LTs keeper status on my team. Besides, if Westy gets injured this season guess who will get the rock?? I honestly think McCoy will produce even if Westy is healthy.

#6 Dustin Keller TE- This guy has shown a ton of upside last season and even moreso this upcoming season due to Sanchez, a rookie QB, will need to have a safety blanket to dump off to. With Coles leaving someone has to pick up the slack, I think it will be Keller. Also, Chris Baker is gone and he took away several snaps from Keller. With the increased playing time and increased reliance on him, Keller is a prime break out candidate, and that's before mentioning his athletic ability or the fact that he is basically an over-sized WR.

#7 Chris Henry WR- The next Randy Moss? I wouldn't go that far but it seems he has changed for the better and Palmer can't say enough about him. I see a nice year ahead for Henry and a great WR3 for me.

Keepers:

A. Peterson
T. Brady
T. Owens

Draft:

1.06 - Braylon Edwards I wanted a quality #2 WR because I wasn't sold on TOe Owens even over Antonio Bryant as a keeper. I knew going in to the draft I was taking a WR with this pick, didn't realize how thin the position would be. Watched him plenty in college and he's shown he can produce in NFL. I'll hope that last season was an abbhoration. Meh.

2.07 - Felix Jones. Never figured he'd still be there, particularly with blitz having the pick before me. I was thrilled about this despite trying to avoid drafting Cowboys.

3.06 - Antonio Bryant. Not being thrilled with Edwards and Owens, I was going WR here. I've always loved Bryant and am convinced last year was no fluke. Now he's playing for a contract. Strongly considered Donald Brown here and would have snagged him if I had any confidence in my #1 and #2 WRs being #1 and #2 WRs but given that could not resist Bryant.

4.07 - Kevin Walter. Well I pay $25.00 a year for thehuddle so I figured I'd actually listen for once just in case Edwards repeats last year and sits on my bench. Thought about Lance Moore, very strongly as well as Vincent Jackson who I am high on. I figured/hoped one of LenDale White or McCoy would slide to the 5.06. Took Walter over Moore and Jackson based on predictions/projections and general message board tone under the assumption that I have proved for almost about 10 years now that I don't know $hit.

5.06 - John Carlson. Neither White nor McCoy made it. Kick to the sack there, f'n flex. I'm targeting two TEs this year and figuring there might be a run, took Carlson, the TE of the two I wanted the most.

T. Brady
A. Peterson
T. Owens
B. Edwards
A. Bryant
K. Walter
J. Carlson

Oh I strongly considered Felix and I really wanted to take him there ... but I already had three RBs and desperately needed a WR1. You observed yourself how thin the pool of WRs was so I felt I had to go that route. I would certainly have taken him in the next round had he been there.

Brief explanation for my pick of Clark, G&S.

I went into the draft with Gates as my #2. Who do you think I had at #1? I see Clark as having a phenominal year for these reasons...#1) Wayne will be Wayne and always draw the double coverage, #2) Manning doesn't have his security blanket (Harrison) anymore and I thik he will look for the trusting hands of Clark more than he will look at Gonzalez (nice, but simply can't separate from a CB like Clark can from a LB/S), and #3)I think with OC gone, manning will call his own # rather than a RB more times this year than previous years, meaning more red-zone chances for WRs (see #1 and #2).

Given that I can play both Gates and Clark and expect both to have better seasons than many of the WRs available at my pick, it made sense. It made even more sense to know that I'd be reducing the TE top-tier talent pool for the rest of you guys, possibly causing a mini-run on TEs (it did somewhat), leaving me several of the WR choices at my next pick. Plus, I already had RWhite and CJohnson at WR so I didn't feel the need to 'look' for a mid-tier WR - with those two as my core, I can take some shots on higher risk, higher reward WRs later.

To each his own I guess. Interesting to see it play out now.
HowboutthemCowboys
Keepers--
Andre Johnson - no brainer

Portis and R Bush - not targeting either in any drafts this year but there was'nt much choice; no better options.

draft picks--

Welker -- another no brainer IMO with ppr scoring. Happy to have him.

Rivers -- was hoping to get a 2nd tier QB here after already having 2 RB's and WR's. Best that was left IMO.

Royal -- actually thought about keeping him instead of one of my backs...could'nt pull the trigger. Should catch a pile of balls this year. If he does as well as I expect him to, my WR's should be awesome.

Leon Washington--as I said before, not thrilled with my backs but LW should have a nice year. Hopefully the new coaches use him even more than he was used last year. Counting on alot of catches from him.

Shiancoe -- Best available TE left at this point IMO. Favre should help.

Devin Hester -- Caught 50 passes last year, still learning to play WR, should improve with Cutler.

Bernard Scott -- an obvious reach in this round but I think I need to hit on something in these later rounds at RB to have any chance in this league. We'll see.

thanks for having me guys. enjoying it so far. smile.gif

Now this is what scared me in this league and my other league of why NOT to draft Rivers. I feel that he had such a great year because of LT being hurt and their running game was hindered and they had to turn to the passing game. Now that LT is healthy, I think they return to the running game.

LT had a big year in '07 and a last year was hurt. Rivers only attempted 18 more passes in '08 than in '07. wink.gif
