Sorry guys, but I have a 9am - 4pm MT meeting on Wed and Thur. Then, I have soccer practice start at 4:30, which is 45 mins away from the office. For the next 2 days (Wed, Thur), I will not be able to check in and make draft picks until the evenings of both.
If I'm lucky, I will "reply all" on the MFL Draft Emails with my pick, when it's my turn. Can I lean on a commish-password-owner make the pick in MFL for me?
TIA!

Or not, your PM box is full. I wanted to send you the following:
You can call or text me any time: (---)***-****. Just have a cheat sheet with you, I can tell you whose been taken, and you can make a pick. Hope that works for you.
We're not that many picks from you, maybe pre-select round 1?
PM'ed Cordo. He has no contact info at the league website, so we'll have to wait until he logs back in to the huddle.

Does anyone have an email address for him? Email may be better since he hasn't logged onto the site or huddle.
As mentioned previously, we have to be a little patient with the first round picks since we never really firmed up the new start time for the draft. Some don't know that we started. Once everyone has checked it, we can yell and scream and curse at them if they're not timely.
Sorry for the hold up, but when I was last on here late Monday night, there was absolutely no indication that the draft was starting any time soon. The website wasn't even ready, so I didn't bother putting in preselects.

No worries, it's my fault, I put everything together and started the draft because I had some time. I knew some people wouldn't even know the draft had started, which is why we have to be somewhat patient until we get through round 1, then we can be dou
chebags again.

The first round is over, and every team has made at least one pick at this point.
Seriously, we need to have a time limit, after which a team is bypassed until they show up.
With 32 teams and nine or ten rounds, holding up the draft during the day like this is arrogant and inexcusable.
If by some small miracle the draft reaches me before this evening, send me a text. I'll be busy throughout the day and unlikely to check in.
Sent Swammi a text and e-mail. Dude's probably going to file a restraining order against me.
OK, Swammi called, I made a pick for him, now I'll go stalk the next guy.
Dr. Rock will be picking shortly. Titansfan is on deck.
E-mail sent to Titansfan, and Polksalet is ready to roll.
Uh, could you guys pay a little closer attention to the draft collectively so this thing speeds up and I don't have to spend all day tracking you down?

I wouldn't worry about it. At this pace we'll be done in time for week 3.

Having 32 owners in a league is a logistical nightmare!
I'll be taking part in my local league draft tomorrow from 11 am to 3 pm PST. Hopefully that won't cause a delay. If I'm close to picking a player I'll try to preselect.

Here's a thought I'd like all 32homers owners to consider:
Imagine that we institute (starting next year) a 1-hour time limit in the draft between the hours of, say, 9AM EST to 6PM EST, Monday through Friday.
What a difference it would make. Instead of the current situation where we sit idle for 4 to 16 hours at a time, we would actually HOPE that owners fail to pick, because they would then be passed up until they show up. I realize that it's not always possible for everyone to check in every hour throughout the day, but this way, those unable to check in would suffer the consequences instead of the other 31 owners. If the unforeseen happens, and an owners simply cannot go online for several hours, he would drop maybe 10 or 20 spots. He'd still get to make his pick when he can log in, by posting to a pinned thread on the message board, announcing his return from the absence.
It would make things simpler and more clear-cut for everyone. Everyone would go into the draft know the consequences. If they know going in that they are likely to be late on several picks, they might want to find another league.
Now, as Hugh said, this year a lot of owners may not have known when the draft started, so it was understandable that some owners held things up not even knowing that they were on the clock. But that is avoidable too - we can set a firm date or we can waive the time limit during the first round.
Any thoughts?

With 32 owners, a 1 hour time limit is not reasonable. Several folks have jobs that keep them off the net for 4-6 hours at a time. It's hard to preselect when you are still 12-20 picks out, but those picks could drop quickly as soon as you start your "offline" time. And starting the clock at 9am EST is 6am PT. I'm not getting up at 6am to see if I'm on the clock.
We still have more than a week to finish this thing up. I'm not worried. I think if we can get people to payup earlier next year, we should start a week earlier, but still expect about half a round per day.
I need to rally the troops earlier. Trying to get 32 guys to check in, pay, declare homer stud, roll dice, in a week is not possible. Throw in to the mix finding new owners as necessary as well. I've dropped the ball on that end, and if I can't find the time to do it next year, maybe we'll have to look for a new commish. If we get all our ducks in a row earlier, the draft can be set up at a pre-stermined time, and people can plan on being available in advance. It's always worked in the past.

Hugh, given everything you have been dealing with, I'd say you are doing a phenomenal job. A new commish is totally unnecessary and would not be the answer. Yeah, maybe the stuff you mentioned would help a little bit, but my observation is that a time limit (whether it's 1 hour or 2 hours, etc.) would be the one single thing we could do to make a vast improvement. With even a 2 hour time limit in place, more owners would be likely to use the pre-selects and/or leave a contact number so they don't hold up the draft. As it is now, there is no penalty for not chekcing in for entire weekdays, so 31 people are held hostage by one owner. If we can fix that one thing, the rest of the stuff mentioned are really minor issues, IMHO.

Hugh, you're doing a great job especially when you consider the dynamics of this league. 32 different teams with 32 different owners? Are you kidding me? Not a job I envy at all. I think for all of us ( I know for me anyway) this league is a novelty to go along with our other leagues. The cost is low and it's just something different to go along with our regular ff season. Thanks for all the work you do to get it done! We have plenty of time to finish this thing. We are always lagging a bit but no worries.

We had a time limit, but that was when this was designed to be a slow draft that would take several weeks. Then members wanted to draft closer to the start of the season and try and get the draft done quicker, so we did that, and kind of dropped the old format. We never really came up with a new documented set of rules regarding the draft, everyone just more or less paid attention as best as possible and we got the draft done, similar to what's happening now. It kinda works, but as mentioned, I'm not opposed to changing it either.
I e-mailed Rhino, but he hasnt been to the league website or the huddle since Saturday. Hoping he checks in shortly.
he drafted at 1:40 Eastern in Dash-4...
Will be away for the next 12 hours.
I've put in 3 preselects that I hope will cover me. I'm caught up on my draft sheet through pick 5.05. If it does get to me and my picks are taken, somebody needs to text me what I've missed (sans QB) and I'll text Hugh when I get a chance (I'll be bartending).
Pope Flick must be having a big breakfast.
I'm gone for the evening, I have my local draft tonight, so I won't be checking back in until the morning, it's too far ahead to pre-select, but I'm pretty sure there's no chance it will get to me anyway.
