I like it when we do this. I'll start.

QB - Cutler, Hasselbeck

I'm a bit worried here, I was very displeased to see Carson Palmer go one spot before I took Cutler. I targeted Hasselbeck as my backup because he's actually got some WR's to throw to this year and has usually been productive in the past. Also, his schedule meshes very well with Cutler's. Walter Jones going out really, really concerns me though. I really hope his injury isn't serious.

RB - ADP, Brown, Parker, Hillis

Having the #1 pick is pretty cool. Ronnie Brown is in a contract year and two years removed from his knee injury, and has at various points in the past been a monster. I'm happy with him at #2, and I'm also happy with Parker at #3 - I don't expect him to be spectatular, but as bench depth/flex, I think he'll be more than adequate. Hillis is just in case Moreno is hurt worse than McDaniels is letting on, which I thought was a possibility when I drafted Hillis, given where he's been the last few years and who he's been learning from. I wouldn't mind having more depth here, if either of the first three go out I'm going to be in trouble on bye weeks.

WR - S. Smith (Car), Ochocinco, Edwards, Moss, Morgan, Schilenz

I dig this group. We happened to draft right as Smith was having injury concerns, which let him drop to me. As long as Delhomme's healthy, Smith is producing like few do. I think Ocho's going to rebound with Palmer chucking the rock - last year definitely looks like an outlier, and when you take the situation into account, I'm a big fan this year. Edwards I'm not as much a fan of as I don't see a ton changing about his situation or a way to explain last year except that he was simply horrid. Hopefully he gets closer to two years ago than last year. Santana Moss is a very useful backup, I really dig Morgan, and with my depth here I can afford to wait a few weeks on Schilenz to see if he's as good as advertised after he gets healthy.

TE - Olsen - I don't know much about him, but everyone seems to dig him, and it seemed like he was available later than he should have been, so why the hell not?

Def - Seattle, Indy - Oof. Waited too long. Cussed like a sailor when Rip took GB out from under me. These two teams match schedules up pretty well, so let's hope they're adequate.

K - I took one. Whoptee dee.

I like my team. A good bit, actually, I think I've got some nice upside. At the end of the day, however, it's going to come down to waiver pickups, injuries, and luck like it always does.
GhostofJohnnyU
Some years, I've come out of the draft VERY psyched up pickle.gif , .....hardly any scoops. Other years, I've suffered a few nasty scoops-and felt so-so about my team. In general there has been no correlation between how psyched or how bummed I am, ....and how my team finishes. Many years from now, just ask me "Hey Ghost, ......Los Borachos, ......Mike, .....whatever your name is, .......do you remember the year you got thoroughly scooped, again + again, + again, + again, + again?" I'll immediately reply, "He11 yeah! 2009, .....I wish I could forget." That said, .......hey, maybe I'll make the playoffs afterall. tumbleweed.gif

QB - Warner, Rothlesberger, Delhomme-When my 2nd pick came, my 12-yr old advisor said "Take Brees". I explained that QBs were going to go late in this league. I couldn't believe Brees and Brady were still there at 3.06, 3.07. I was almost certain to get a stud QB as a triple threat with my RB-WR combo. Instead, Brees and Brady HAD to go on the next two picks. When I almost went with Matt Ryan at 7.08, he was immediately picked next. Just when I was thinking McNabb, ....he went. As expected, Schaub, Palmer, and Cutler all bit the dust. But I pushed it on Gerrard, .....then didn't learn my lesson when I let Flacco get away. Warner is a boom or bust old man. If he gets clocked early nutkick.gif , I seriously doubt that Big Ben or Jake will do much to save me.

RB-Chris Johnson, Ryan Grant, Derrick Ward, McCoy, James Davis-I'm very happy with this group. Huge hopes for CJ, Grant is quite unexciting, but the Pack offense is sick, and he will get his chance to put up some solid numbers. If the Bucs get ANY decent QBing at all, Ward could be a monster. McCoy is all risk/reward, ......I have a feeling it might not work out, .....even if Westy limps around half the year. I predict Davis to be the biggest positive surprise out of rounds 14-16.

WR-Jennings, V. Jackson, Lance Moore, Chris Henry-I was presented with Jennings or Calvin Johnson. I think both will have monster years, perhaps finish 1-2 as surprise mega-studs. We will see if my risk pays off. Then, ....something bad happened. V. Jackson, .....fine pick, Lance Moore, .....NICE value, ......umm,....Ghost, ......Los Borachos, ......Mike, .....whatever your name is, .......did you notice that all three of your WRs (AND Ryan Grant, ....AND both D/ST's) have Week 5 byes? huh2.gif Yes, I DID see this coming,.....I just kept picking who I thought had the most talent, ......sigh. Chris Henry, .....gotta love that sleeper pick, .....and he will be taking the field Week 5!! Woo-Hoo!!

TE-Scooped on Clark, Olsen, Winslow, and Carlson. Got stuck with Dustin Keller, ....I'm about as high on him as I was on that stale, dry turkey sandwich I had for lunch today. I was even scooped on Shiancoe as a 2nd TE, .......sigh.

D/ST-Finally, I did the scooping. Very high on both the Bears and the Chargers. Took one, .....then the other somehow fell to me. As usual, ......2 more Week 5 byes. bag.gif

K-Scooped on Longwell and Elam, .....but the latter dude is 39. I suppose I'm in good hands with Akers.

All of this said, .......I obviously like the players I picked, ........and I think I'll get my a$$ stomped mercilessly anyway.

OK, I'll bite:

QB - Matt Ryan, David Garrard

Under the circumastances, I'm happy. After using my first 6 picks to fill-in the core lineup slots outside of QB, I can't complain about Ryan landing in my lap. That being said, I don't think ATL will pass enough to have him be a difference maker weeks to week. I'm hoping for solid, consistent numbers and anyhting better than solid is gravy. Garrard is a fine backup QB. God help me if I need to trot him out there consistently.

RB - Frank Gore, Kevin Smith, Beanie Wells, Fred Jackson, Glen Coffee, Edgerrin James

I like the depth and options here. I totally lucked out with the news of Edge's signing in SEA one pick before mine. (If you can consider getting Edge at this stage of his career "lucky".) But, it's tough to complain about snagging a potential starting RB in round 14. On the down side, my two top RBs play for crappy teams who will likely be playing catch-up by half time in most of their games. Not the ideal scenario for RB gold. Beanie is another crap shoot for me - invested a 5th rounder on a guy with an injury history and unclear role, but clear talent. Boom or bust?

WR - Andre Johnson, Terrell Owens, Donald Driver, Steve Breaston, Muhsin Muhammad

Pretty happy with this crew. Not much to say about Andre - he should be a stud. TO is going to be an interesting character (isn't he always). The toe thing is of some concern, but I'm not stressing over it yet. I'm afraid of owning him in November/December when the cold/snow start up in Buffalo. BUF has 4 of last 5 games at home (and the other is in PIT, brrrrr). Driver is solid and should remain that way. Muhsin is not getting any love, but I'll take a starting WR on a decent team like CAR any day over the other guys who were out there in rd 15. Breaston could also be interesting to own. I have no idea what I'm getting with him.

TE - Dallas Clark

Had no intention of going with a TE early unless something unusual came up. In round 6, Clark was just staring at me as a good value. He was the last guy in my top tier of TEs and I knew that I had no chance of him lingering around til rd 7. I'd intended to go QB in rd 6, but this league has historically let QBs drift beyond their typical ADP value, so I rolled the dice on still getting a decent QB in rd 7 and took the last of the upper tier TEs. This worked out well since McNabb or Ryan were my round 6 targets and BOTH were still available when it came back to me in round 7.

DEF - Patriots

My concession to homerism. smile.gif That being said, I do think the Pats will have a pretty dynamic defense this season. I love their Burress pickup from OAK. Adalius Thomas is back. Their D-Line remains stout. Jerod Mayo is shaping up to be a stud. The only question is that secondary, but to be honest, I think that they even upgraded there with Springs & Bodden at the corners. The big concern is leadership - with Rodney Harrisoin gone and Bruschi retiring, the defensive cheerleaders are gone. Someone needs to step up and fill that void.

PK - Whatever... I took one that was available. Minor annoyance that Longwell went before my pick as I wanted someone that had a late bye week so I wouldn't have to think about the position for a couple of months. rolleyes.gif

Ok My turn....

QB - Manning, Cassel

I think I got good value with Manning @ 3.10 since he in previous years had been drafted in low 1st or high 2nd round. I think he is steady as they come at QB. I don't have high hopes for Cassel but hopefully he will only play during Manning's week 6 bye.

RB - Portis, Moreno, Rice, Julius Jones, Michael Bush, Faulk

This will like be the make or break on my season as it usually is for fantasy football. Picking so late in the 1st round I ended up going Moss since I felt I would be reaching to take the next available RB. Portis is uninspiring but should put up respectable numbers. And with the prevalence of RBBC, I at least know he will get the touches. After that, I think I have good upside on most of the bunch but any and all could be complete duds. If at least one or 2 don't produce, then I will likely be relegated to the toilet bowl. I was disappointed to see Edge get picked up by SEA. I think he will drastically cut into Jones's numbers. Now that Shanny is out in Denver, maybe we can actually get production out of a single back instead of the roulette we've seen in recent past.

WR - Moss, Evans, Mason, Ginn, Steve Smith

I'm high on Moss this year with Brady being back. He really need someone to get him the ball down the field. I think he will put up better numbers than any RB that i could have selected at my pick in the 1st, with less risk. Evans I think may benefit from To getting the double coverage but then again, TO may demand so many balls thrown his way that there may be little left for anyone else. Ghost and I talked about Mason/Moore in a possible trade. The downside to mason was that he didn't have as much upside. Maybe, maybe not. With Flacco in his second year, he may actually thrown the ball a little more than last year who knows. Though I would be shocked if mason wasn't the leading receiver on the team. Not much comment on Ginn and Smith.

TE - Carlson

I don't see him putting up huge numbers but hopefully he will get some red zone looks. Not bad for the 10th round

DEF - NYJ

I'm not a huge fan of predicting defensive performance. I kind of equate DEF and kickers to middle relievers in baseball. There are a few that are very good, the a whole bunch that are serviceable, followed by some you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Most of your points in Defense come with TD's and for me that really tough to predict. A la look at the ranking from over the different site and you will see quite a variation. Same with kickers.

Considering that you're not in the league this season, you must be right! clap.gif
