Full Version: Eliminating Duplicate Pics on Hard Drive

Since this is clearly a photo question I thought I would make my first foray into this forum.

For the past several years I've been compiling photos and then as a computer dies moving them along to the next. I'm now on the 3rd iteration of this process and have quite a bit of overlap where I copied twice or forgot I copied, etc. I'm now working on getting my act together and moving everything to a network hard drive. I would like to do so without saving 4-5 copies of the same pic. Can anyone advise me of a easy way to do this or if there is some software you have used to accomplish this task?

Thanks in advance!

The easiest way is to just make a folder on your desktop, go to Explorer and sort by name and drag and drop to the dupes into the folder.
If the dupes could be in different folders, PM me your email and I'll send you a copy of a Freeware prog that does a decent job.

Here's a simple dupe finder. It's free and has several options to delete or save to another folder (my choice to be safe)
Try it...I have others, but this one is simple and pre-tags the files.
