Old, private league started back in 1991 has 3 spots to fill. Highlights are:
· $309 Buy-In, payable via PayPal before the draft ($9 is for the PayPal fee).
· Draft night is Tuesday, September 8th at 7:30 via FanBall and Conference Call. Four of us will be together at the actual draft – Warrenville, IL area.
· No Keepers – we draft fresh every year with a random order. Snake draft.
· Points Only league – best team wins (no lucky H2H crap)
· In addition to end-of-year 1st/2nd/3rd prizes, there are weekly prizes and an actual Play-Off pool. Draft wisely – if your players make to the NFL Play-Offs you can play them then. Action all the way to the real Super Bowl
· No kids or idiots please – serious owners only. Adult league – lots of trash talk.
If you’re interested, send me a private email to mccowanssac@gmail.com or stuart.mccowan@tigerdirect.com. All I need is a name, email address, and the money via PayPal and I’ll get you in the league and the conference call for Tuesday night. If you live in the Chicago area you’re free to join us at the live draft.
Official rules for the league are below…
Thanks!

Fantasy Football Rules – Darryl’s Dummies
1) HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE
This league is one of the oldest, continuous fantasy football leagues in the country, going on nearly 18 years now. Founded around 1991 by Darryl Richardson and some of his drunken friends, it was run in the early days by hand – no computers or fancy internet scoring back then. Darryl tallied the scores from the weekend manually, and faxed over the results to all the owners every week. For his early work running the league, he has our gratitude.
As times changed, Darryl took on help running the league. At the present, I run the league as acting commissioner, with Darryl as a behind-the-scenes organizer and advisor.
This year – 2009 – sees the following owners again stepping up to the plate for a chance to lose their money to Yours Truly:
Highlanders (Commissioner)
Blackzilla
Badger Boys
Puddle of Mud
Primetime Playas
Mommas Boys
100% Texans
Party Like It’s 2005
One Hit Wonders

2) DRAFT DATES & TIMES
Drafting via Fanball and a conference call on Tuesday night, September the 8th.
Standard snake draft with order being determined the night of the draft (cards are picked from a hat like always…)
Draft generally goes from around 7:30 pm CST to 10 pm CST (depending on how long Darryl takes...). Two minutes max per pick (pfft…). Draft ends after 15 rounds.
3) BUY-IN AND PAYOUTS
A flat fee of $300 is due before the draft via PayPal or check for remote owners, or cash for those at the draft. If you’re going to pay me via PayPal add $9 for a total of $309 as they charge me a 3% transaction fee - grr...
Additional fees are levied as follows:
$1 for every waiver move (dropping/adding a player)
$2 for every player traded (trades subject to commissioner approval)
(These additional fees average around $20 per year per team...)
This is a points-only league (no head-to-head), meaning whomever has the most points at the end of Week 17 wins. No getting lucky on head-to-head match-ups – the best team statistically over the course of the year takes the grand prize.
Pay-outs are as follows (assuming a 12-team league):
$1800 First Place (regular season - highest total points after Week 17 is done)
$450 Second Place (regular season - 2nd highest total points)
$150 Third Place (regular season - 3rd highest total points)
In addition, to keep the playoffs interesting, there is a small pool for highest points after the real Super Bowl. All playoff points are tallied and the winner gets $200, with 2nd place getting $50. So draft accordingly. Any player you have on your team that gets to the actual play-offs is eligible to be played at that time.
$200 First Place (the real playoffs - highest total points after the Super Bowl)
$50 Second Place (the real playoffs - 2nd highest points after the Super Bowl)
Weekly Pay-outs are as follows:
$40 High Score for the week
$10 Second Highest Score for the week
For the approx. $150-200 normally generated in transaction fees, I will be awarding this small pool of cash as follows:
50 percent to the owner with the highest weekly score during the regular season
10 percent for the biggest monster week from a quarterback
10 percent for the biggest monster week from a running back
10 percent for the biggest monster week from a receiver
10 percent for the biggest monster week from a kicker
10 percent for the biggest monster week from a defense
(This worked out well last year, and wasn’t hard to keep track of on my end…)
4) BASIC RULES
Standard snake draft with order being determined the night of the draft (cards are picked from a hat, or we can have the Fanball system randomly set the order – either works.
Draft generally goes from around 7:30 pm CST to 10 pm CST (depending on how long Darryl takes...). Draft ends after 15 rounds.
Each week, you play the following:
1 Quarterback
2 Running Backs
3 Wide Receivers (or 2 WRs and 1 Tight End)
1 Kicker
1 Defense
(Plus 1 Overtime Player for breaking ties)
(Note: you may elect to play nobody at a position for that week if you so choose. Sometimes folks due this with suck defensive match-ups - see scoring below...)
Scoring is pretty standard (except for the Tight Ends - you get 1 point for every 7 receiving yards)
4 points for passing TDs, 1 point for every 25 yards passing, -2 for every interception thrown
6 points for rushing TDs, 1 point for every 10 yards rushing
6 points for receiving TDs, 1 point for every 10 yards receiving (1 for every 7 for TEs)
2 points for 2-point conversions
1 point for extra points, 3 points for field goals up to 49 yards, 6 points for 50-59 yards, 12 points for 60 yards or more
Defenses get 6 points for defensive TDs, 2 points for safeties, 1 point for each fumble recovery, 1 point per sack, and up to 10 points for shut-outs (scaling down to zero once 10 offensive points have been scored against said Defense). And yes, extra points count as offensive points against your Defense. Quit whining ya bitches...
Also, if your Defense gives up more than 30 offensive points, they will start to lose points (so negative 1 for 31 points against and negative 13 for 43 points against - you get the picture)
No points per reception, rushing attempt or passing attempt - that's their jobs...
Trades are allowed and encouraged - subject to commissioner approval. If you end up with more than 15 players, you'll have to drop a scrub or two to get back to the 15-man roster size. The same thing applies if you find yourself under 15 players after a trade - simply grab someone off the waiver wire. You must maintain a 15-man roster.
Add/Drop Rules:
After 11 pm CST (Midnight EST), you may Add/Drop any player you want from your roster. Keep in mind, if you Add a player that was claimed by another owner via the Waiver Wire, I may reverse the move...
Waiver Rules:
We will continue to use the Waiver wire feature on the Fanball site - simply submit whom you want to drop and pick-up and I will process these claims after Tuesday night at 11 CST, Midnight EST.
Order on the Waiver Wire is last place owner gets first shot at any contested player. Then they drop to the bottom of the list for the week to be cycled back up. The waiver wire order is reset every week after the Monday night game. Again - the only time I break out the order is if a player is contested (more than one person wants). This is the way we've always done it and I'm going to keep it that way.
If you don't use the Waiver wire feature and somebody else does - and you both want the same player - then the owner that followed the rules and used the Waiver Wire will get the player (despite where the owners fall in their waiver wire order). So the lesson here is - USE THE WAIVER WIRE FEATURE IN FANBALL!!! So easy...
Once a player is dropped, they're put on hold for 24-hours so everyone has a chance to see the player is available. Again, if you want to Add the player that was dropped, you can submit a Claim for him using the Fanball site. If there's more than one owner that wants the player, I'll whip out the waiver wire order for the week. Again - use this feature in Fanball.
