That week is going to put some issues forward for both Rhino and I. For that reason we both look like 9/22 is looking to be the best day of that week. Can we start with kicking that date's tires and see if we can all do it that day.

Normally we go around 8 or 9 ET so please chime in.

As of this writing, 9/22 will work for me, but I'd much prefer an 8pm eastern time start if that seems at all possible ... while I may not yet be approaching dinosaur status in terms of age, 9/23 is a work day, so anything we can do to work towards a start time that promises ending the draft at a reasonable 'east coast time' hour of the night would be appreciated.

will work for me

Works for me.....

Don't see any reason why not

9/22 works for me and rr's proxy.

And 8 is preferred.
Skippy
8 is also prefered for this east time zoner. Just as TS put out there, the next is a workday for me and that day starts with me getting up at 5am if I sleep in a little. I will make that arangement as I don't want to plan to get up at 3:45am if we are drafting and things could go a little long.

The 22nd will work for me, but 8pm Eastern time might be little early as that's 5pm Arizona time (no daylight savings). I might be home that early but should be available by 5:30pm assuming no big snarls in traffic. Hope that's ok for everyone.

I don't see any problems with 9/22.
SteelBunz
9/22 sounds fine to me too.

One note on the draft timer.....I did a Yahoo draft with the ladies about a week ago. 12 teams with 15 players each. The yahoo draft timer was set to 90 seconds. It lasted only an hour and a half! Pretty darn good if you ask me! clap.gif

I'm not saying I like the yahoo set up......because I really don't. MFL gives a commish leeway to pause the draft.....reset if there was an incorrect pick, etc. Yahoo did not. But the speed of the draft at 90 seconds per pick was terrific!

I think we should shoot for this....and still give ourselves bathroom breaks and correction times, etc. We can get 18 rounds done without having to "slow draft" the last 3 rounds......and we should be done in a couple hours.....instead of 3+. wink.gif

That way we can start at 9pm ET so the West Coast folks can get home and have a little dinner.....and still be done in 2 hours.

What do you think?
SteelBunz
As a comparison....last year we had a 2 minute timer.....and we weren't done until around midnight. We started at 8:30. sad.gif

90 secs is a pretty short time for me to get my brain around who is available. biggrin.gif But I guess for those people that work for a living it would be good.

Don't worry.....I won't set MFL to autopick for you if the time runs out. But the 90 seconds will get everyone thinking a bit faster. It gets easier as it goes along...I was a bit rushed at first too! wink.gif
Skippy
In Rage we draft 14 rounds in about one and a half hours. 90 seconds a pick sounds fast but really if you have a sheet set up it can work and does work pretty smoothly. IMHO Most of our Rage picks go off in well under a minute but one problem that we did and do have every year is a few mistake picks that need to be fixed.

I suck at these live drafts because I don't do them enough. If everyone took the full 90 seconds it wouldn't be bad but when the picks come up bing bing bing it's kind of hard to keep up with the cheatsheet. I guess I'm old like sky. unsure.gif
Ursa Majoris
I usually take less than 5 seconds on my picks. This is yet another reason I suck at fantasy football.
SteelBunz
I dunno Skippy.....I'm getting pretty good at fixing mistakes on a live MFL draft.

Trick is to set it up so no one gets penalized for being a bit slow. As in...it doesn't skip them and it doesn't plug in an arbitrary or highest pick left on the board. Everyone gets used to whatever pace we pick. LOL.....sort of like playing Up (or Down) to your opponent.

We can start out at 90 seconds......if it looks like that's just too quick for most people, we'll pause the draft and reset the timer to 2 minutes.

Fair enough?

That is how I do it as well, Bunz. There is only a few things that cause it to be a problem.

One is when someone pre-picks and right after owner makes his pick the next pick fires right off. Then there is two players to undo when a player makes a mistake and takes Adrian Peterson from Chi.

The other is when an owner like myself sets up his pre-pick list and is just 100% ready to fire right after the a pick was made. I am one of those guys that does fire my pick in there really quick as I am normally pretty set up. That can cause a problem if I do not right away realize that a mistake was just made.

Mistakes get made when someone does not even realize who they are about to pick because of the way that they sorted the players and they think they are on a different player. Those mistakes are not easy to see that it was a mistake pick. Normally the owner needs a few seconds to post a What the Hell just happened? I didn't pick that guy.

I never set the draft up to skip and when it seems something is wrong, I always hit pause but that is still not 100%.

I still think we will be fine so long as everyone is ready. It only takes a little time to get set up at MFL if you sort of have an idea of what you might want to do.

What time are we starting?

I have to hustle back from my girl's gymnastics class. I'll make it work. But, need to know WHAT TIME I need to make work.

TIA

Lets split the difference and call it 8:30 ET.

I did some Rapid Drafts with a timer like that. My advice would be to have your players ranked in advance. So your computer will be smarter than other computers. wink.gif
