I noticed we have several teams with players who are either "Out" or "Doubtful" for this week's game. Remember, you can move that player to your "IR" spot and pick up another player. With the limited roster space available, I would think most owners would want to take advantage of this rule... especially when some key players are not playing (McNabb, LT, Hasselbeck, etc.). Just PLEASE remember to follow the rules regarding IR, which are listed below. Most importantly, suspended players (Lynch, for example) can NOT go on IR. Thanks.

IR RULE

- You can not activate a player in the same week you put him on IR.
- You can not put a player on IR in the same week you acquired him.
- If you don't activate a player on IR the week after he has stats you lose him.
- A player qualifies for IR by being listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL on the official NFL injury report.
- Suspended players are not allowed to go on the IR. They are not on their team's IR so they shouldn't be on yours.

The main problem I've found with this is that there are players who are inactive on Sunday, but we have no way to put them on IR because the site still lists them as questionable. I had that problem with Bowe this past Sunday. He was listed as inactive Sunday morning, but the site wouldn't let me put him on IR because he was still listed as questionable. In most leagues this really doesn't matter, but being that we only have a 13 man roster this can definitely be a problem.

Definitely a loophole in the rule, for sure. I got your email that Sunday, but it was well after kickoff. The only thing I can say is, I am on the Huddle every Sunday morning... I'm far more likely to see a PM on short notice than I am an email. If it happens again, PM me, and I can probably make the IR adjustment. Also, Slambo has helped out with other commish duties this year, and has the password, so he might have been able to help as well. Of course, that is assuming the commish has the ability to "override" the Doubtful/Out part of the rule... I'm not 100% sure that they can.

The bottom line is that there is no guarantee you'll be able to put a player on IR UNLESS they are clearly listed as Out/Doubtful... Any scenario other than that is leaving it up to chance. In other words, you might not be able to always take advantage of the IR rule for a game-time decision/deactivation. The rule is basically geared towards players who are out for multiple weeks, or at the very least, clearly not going to play for at least one week. Hope that makes sense.

It makes sense and I understand that fully. The problem is that we only have a 13 man roster so when we have bye weeks and you have a player that's not "officially" listed as out or doubtful and Sunday morning rolls around and their NFL team decides that they won't play, then we can get screwed. It's definitely a tough problem, but it would be nice if we were able to put that player on IR and sign another player for that day.

I definitely understand your pain... Like I said, I will do my best to help you out in this type of situation, but there is no "guarantee" that you'll be able to move a last-minute deactivated player to IR.

That's what makes this league such a unique challenge, in my opinion... the limited roster space available. I literally go into this draft each year, knowing that there are probably 4-5 players that I will be dropping due to bye weeks. You really have to pick and choose your "studs" carefully, as you can only hold on to so many of them in this league. For example, I never draft a top kicker AND a top defense, because I know there is no way I'll be able to hold on to both during their bye weeks (and I definitely try to draft a kicker, TE, and defense with different bye weeks).
