Gotta say that I'm not a big fan of running 2 separate bidding periods and then having a period of waiting before being able to add players by FCFS. It's not a huge deal and it's something that's been well defined but I just wish we had one period of bidding and then FCFS immediately afterward or maybe an hour later.

It is what it is, but I agree. I really don't see the need for it, especially when you can put in waivers for players in more than 1 round. The other thing I would like to see deals with the draft order. We do this in another league I'm in and it somewhat helps the teams that draft near the bottom... especially in a 16 team league. After the first 2 rounds of the serpentine draft, the third round repeats the second round and then it continues as a normal serpentine draft. Obviously this gives the teams at the bottom a chance to get another decent high ranked player since they miss out on all the stud RB, WR, and QB's. yes, being able to draft smartly helps as well, but drafting at the bottom of a 16 team league is vastly different than in a 12 team league. I drafted 6th in another 16 team league and I'm 3-0 with the 2nd most points scored in the league. Yes, I'm 2-1 right now, but I could easily be 0-3. Just another variation of drafting, but it is a pretty good idea. I'm good either way though.

The league used to be FCFS, but many owners complained/left because they worked during the week, and didn't have 24/7 access to informaiton. Other owners were scopping free agents because they had better computer access, which I agree was unfair (even though I was an owner that could take advantage of it)

In 2008, we decided on two bidding periods so as not to have FCFS start until the weekend, when almost everyone has access to a computer.

Its not perfect, but since almost 100% of our owners hold M-F jobs, starting free agency on Saturdays gives everyone the same chance to get the best free agents at no cost. The two bidding periods also makes you become that much more careful/straegic with the use of your $100...you have to pay for almost all moves you make.

I understand all those points and am playing by the rules this year and would in future years. I started this just because I felt comfortable enough to share my opinion on the setup. If having a M-F job is causing that much of an issue for people to access info and make solid decisions, than so be it and I'm fine with the current setup. However, with the bidding periods ending so late at night (for east coasters) 11PM ET or 8 PM WC, then most should be able to have time to gather info and make decisions. I think 1 bidding period is sufficient (especially in a 16-team league) and think that even if we gave a 24-hour time period between the processing of bids and the beginnning of FCFS that that would be good enough. So bids process at 11PM (ET) on Wed. night and FCFS begins on Thurs. night at let's say anywhere between 9-11PM. But again I do understand your point about making people be more careful/responsible when it comes to managing their bidding money as for the most part they have to pay to add any player.

Again, just wanted to share my thoughts and I will play by whatever rules the majority is comfortable with. smile.gif

I like people that play by the rules. I agree with you on this one though one bidding period should be enough then FCFS.I mean hell it's not like after the first one someone is going to be sitting there waiting to scoop up a player that was missed. I can barely find someone worth bidding on the first time around.

Both valid points, and we can discuss a change next year for sure. I wasn't trying to defend the rule...only explain the rationale behind it.

Exactly what I'm saying.

I hear ya Swamm and that's cool. I'm not trying to bash it either and everyone knows, any time you try something different or play with a different setup than you're used to, it takes time to adjust to. If it gets brought up and most of the other owners want a change that's fine. If not, things are going smoothly this season as well. It's really just a matter of preference rather than me thinking it's a bad setup.
