Why are the Tigers getting ejected from the game one after another?
Big John
Angry at the umpires with non-calls from beanballs. (213 in directv)
Puddy
Damn, I listened until the 8th inning and turned it off.
MikesVikes
Twins player Delmon Young got hit by a pitch right before it. So the Tigers were defending themselves?
MikesVikes
I get terrible radio reception downtown here. They don't stream games on the internet. But I can see the play by play on the net.

MIN fans remember that you get to face Greinke one more time...

I was at the game and they threw at Thames twice, the first time hitting him in the shoulder and then they came up and in again. I think because he came in hard at second to break up a double play!

This play-in game is one of the best games I've seen all year, and I don't give a rat's ass about either of these teams.

Seriously, this is just great baseball.
Gopher
I was just about to type that I knew the Twins were in trouble when Crain came in to pitch the 10th... and then Cuddyer gets a triple on what should have been a bloop single. whacko2.gif

the left fielder's been told since he was about 10 years old, to keep the ball in front of you in that situation. I thought Leyland was gonna have a stroke. laughing.gif

and he redeems himself with one heckuva throw. clap.gif

Dammit... Looked like Casilla got a bad jump on that tag. Probably the right call to send him, though, with that being the 2nd out. Shake the Gilligan hand. g-bash.gif

Edit: I intentionally misspelled the profanity, and it was STILL filtered. doh.gif

Seriously. . .what a game. . .wow.

I can hardly stand to watch when Crain is in there... and unfortunately, he still is. huh.gif

He was bad in the beginning of the year but was pretty good after the break.

Yep... absolutely no reason for the runner to leave the bag on that line drive. Either they catch it (and you're tagging), or it gets through/by or drops for a hit, and the game is over. By leading off the bag, he cost himself a precious half-second. If not for that, he may have beat the throw. Clutch throw, though. smash.gif

And, right after I mentioned Crain, they take him out.

Yeah... Nothing against the guy. Like you said, he's pitched pretty well, overall. I think I have a bad outing or two of his, from previous big games (might have even been post-season), etched in my memory. Don't know what it is... that guy just makes me nervous when he takes the mound in a close game. It might also have to do with the fact that he doesn't really have great stuff... he just throws hard, and has pretty good control. Basically, a home run waiting to happen, it seems like.

Mauer is due - cmon big Joe...Show em your the MVP!!!

Keppel is the Twins' eighth pitcher of the game... they better end this soon, or they're going to have to dip into the starting rotation. think.gif

Keppel can go a couple innings, after that, you might as well throw everything you got.

nothing can duplicate a lose-and-go-home game....NCAA tourney, Game 7, NFL playoffs.....the drama is impossible to match.

Extra innings takes it to an entirely different level.

This is one of the best baseball games I can ever remember watching. Back and forth, everything at stake. And here comes Inge with another shot at being a hero.

The Yankees got to chose if they wanted to play Wednesday or take an extra rest day and play Thursday. Of course they picked Wednesday because of this game. I guess you get that with home field advantage.
Gopher
As if my stress level wasn't high enough already.

Rodney is still in?

GoGo Gomez - he's got wheels...just who we need on base.

Since when does a team get that choice? I've never even heard of that before... home field advantage or not, that's ridiculous. Boston and LA have three full days off, and the winner of this game basically has to jump on a plane within hours of its conclusion Must be a Selig idea... sort of like trying to contract the Twins because small-market teams just can't be competitive in MLB. whacko2.gif

Seems like he's been in for about four innings. Meanwhile, the Twins have used pitchers so fast that they may have to ask Morneau if he can throw for an inning or so. laughing.gif

One thing to remember is tonites game was supposed to be played last night at the dome but they had some other game going on instead and had to wait until today to play.

I have to say, congrats to the Tigers and their fans on a great season... Everyone is talking (and is going to talk) about what a monumental collapse they had, but I don't necessarily think it's justified. The Twins had to play REALLY well to catch them... it's not like last year, when it didn't seem like anybody in the division wanted it. The Tigers should be proud... even though today's outcome wasn't the way they wanted it, they still overachieved this year, in my opinion.

Plus, with this being the last year in the Metrodome, I just think some things are meant to be, sometimes. A lot of special memories from that place... I couldn't think of a better way for it all to end.

What a great game... I actually left the practice round of the President's Cup early today, thinking that my DVR might not work. I wanted to make sure that I caught the last couple of innings, at least, if that were the case. Sure enough, no recording, and I made it home in time to see the 6th inning on. I am very happy that I didn't miss this. smash.gif

Congrats to the Twins. We gave them everything we had. I have to question Leyland's decision to leave Rodney in there in the 12th. After the leadoff hit, I'm surprised he wasn't yanked.

The Twins got hot at the right time. Didn't they win 15 out of 18???

I understand both points. I just don't understand why the Yankees get to make that decision. Scheduling conflicts, between different sports teams, happen all the time. MLB needs to get some balls and make the right decision, rather than just letting the chips fall.

Oh well... the Twins have obviously had the deck stacked against them before, so what's one more thing? Maybe, by traveling and playing on such short notice, they won't have time to think about the fact that they're facing their nemesis. think.gif
