I try to be a stand up guy and use my best judgment in all my dealings in my life. I get very frustrated when I see other people getting screwed over for the gain of, or at the will of, other people. I do plenty of crap I do not want to do in my life, as I'm sure we all do. I try to offset this crappy aspect of life by finding a hobby that I enjoy.

My primary hobby is and has been for about 10 years fantasy football. I have been in many leagues over that time, and have seen some that were great fade away due to various reasons. GMX had poor leadership in my opinion, DWII had too much turnover, a local just evaporated. Fusion has been a staple in my fantasy football regimen since its inception 2002. It has been on a steady decline for some time, primarily because Sarge is allowed to run amok on the boards. Everyone knows about his feelings regarding what Keg did YEARS ago, (it was YEARS ago Sarge, get the fahk over it.) as far as Sarge and Keg are concerned the Super Bowl is this week. They only play to beat each other. Sarge is more openly bitter than Keg, but I'm sure there is no love lost on either side of this pairing. I personally attribute the drop off in activity to their feud. I LOVE fantasy football, and there are many times I loathe having to click into this forum because I know that it's I'll just be reading hateful bile.

Regardless of the reason why activity is down, activity is down. I sent out three trade offers in Fusion this week, (2 Sunday & 1 early Tuesday afternoon) and I revoked them all on Friday after not hearing anything back from any of the owners. This isn't uncommon for Fusion anymore and it drains the fun right out of the league for me. I do not just click away on some boxes and trade spam the entire league, I look at your roster and mine and try make offers that make some sense for both parties. They're not all gems, but there are usually no clunkers either. I will not repeatedly offer someone you said you didn't want or constantly downplay the value of your players to try and get a deal done. I try to be responsive to offers sent to me and at least put a reason why I decline an offer if that's the choice I decide to make.

I cut back to six leagues this season (from eleven last season). I hoped that it would make the leagues I kept more enjoyable by allowing me to focus on them more and increase my involvement. In general that has not been the case, but in Fusion it has hi-lighted some of the faults I had been able to easily gloss over. Fusion is my only IDP league at this point ( I tried to add another, but Randall is a d!ck, that is another story all together) so I have been spending much more time proportionally here due to the added challenge that only this format possess for me now.

The fact that rules are enforced by some unknowable code, that even after 6-8 years I do not know, is supremely frustrating, and it constantly leaves me with a sense of being screwed. The rules I follow are broken by others without punishment and the clerical portions of my dealings are scrutinized to the point there are deemed invalid. I'm sick of having to guess whether I'm following rules that matter or not. The next time someone misspells a name in a trade will it be denied because that player does not exist? Where is the line?

Im sorry you feel this way Dan.

The reason I brought this up was 2 fold. One it is my opponent, and there was nothing in MFL or the message board before the noon deadline, and others have been bitten by the same rule. If this was Bunz or Sky, Id have the same problem with it. I see many things that I dont necessarily agree with, but Im not the law here. But when it affects me personally, I will speak out about it. This does, and I did.


As far as the situation with Keg, that is just something I will never forget. The heart and soul of this game is to try and win, and when you openly do not do that for a whole season, I see it as an injustice. But you guys let him do it, and thus he continues to try and abuse our rulebook at his discretion. I would be willing to bet if this wasnt allowed before and the league stood up to him then, he wouldnt continue to try and circumvent our rules today.

When I first responded to the trade, it was after the time expired for someone to accept the deal. The rule is in place and should be adhered to. This is not the first time a trade was not made in time for a weeks game, but apparently it will be the first time a trade was offered, and then accepted, and then been able to reverse it because 1 owner couldnt get the player for this week, regardless of the reason for wanting to do the deal.

As far as the comment, I run amok, if you look back, I didnt start things with HIm. I questioned the validity of the timing of this trade. I only responded to his response to me. I understand you are upset thinking I caused you to lose out on a deal. But I am not the reason you are not getting the player. IF this was done in time, there would be nothing to say here. And if Keg honored the offer, you would still be getting the player next week.

Again, Im sorry you feel the way you do.

I've had my issues a couple times with you but hope you continue in this league.
I do believe you are correct that this league has slid but I think every league I'm in has slid some.
Seems like everybody is a little busier then they used to be.
Course it could be that a lot of work places are blocking this site and that severely cuts into the time one can spend here.

I honestly do not know how to reply to this Dan. You have valid points in several areas. Fusion hasn't been what it started out to be for a long while now and also hasn't been enjoyable for a long while now. I'm pretty sure that I have been a part of the problem when it comes to the rules....probably from trying to keep everyone happy and not keeping anyone happy.

I will say this... While you may no longer care ... you have never been a person that just quits... so Please keep playing your competitive game until the season is over. Then we can both do what we have been planning on doing for several years now.

I really hope that your plan is something like co-owning a team together, and not leaving.

This isn't an easy league to play in, and it's been a lot of work (at least for me) to get a team together, learn the dynamics, etc.

I'm having fun. Maybe the old timers in here should give that a try.

I've been on autopilot in this league for a few years now. Just sorta going through the motions, not trying to push any limits or do anything aggressive to make my team better because I don't want to hear of me bending any rule, getting taken advantage of, or taking advantage of someone else. That's not right and that's not in the best interest of the league and it has to end now. I think I'm starting to see why.



I think a part of our problem has been the way we both interpret the rules differently and the confusion that has caused. We probably should discuss this on the side. Me being a "spirit of the law" and Sky being a "letter of the law" person, even though we both are 100% trying to be fair has caused confusion. Worse, it has given people ammo to argue and make personal attacks.




Thanks Nick for this post. You have given me new motivation to try to get my team righted in this league and strengthen the league as a whole.

To me the problem in this league is the personal attacks and bitterness people spew on these boards. It makes me as well as everyone else less interested in coming here. It has to stop now. NO MORE. I will start deleting and/or editing posts if I have to but I mean it. No more personal stuff. We may have all crossed the line at some point or another and I am not going to single anyone out so we all start with a clean slate from this point.
Passion and opinion are good. Personal attacks are no longer tolerated. PERIOD.

The only thing I am not sure about are these trade offers. If they were just sent in MFL, then I can understand people not seeing them. Or even looking to see if they have any.

Not sure if this is what he's talking about, but Dan & I had a brief discussion about trading some players. However, my main focus was getting a backup QB for my bye week & doing it without hurting my starting lineup. Since I got Josh Johnson in FA there was no longer a need.

Regardless, as I've said many times over to everyone here, my work life has changed drastically over the past couple of years. I do a lot of traveling & put in a lot of hours. Even though I can check the boards on a regular basis & I may see your PM, that doesn't necessarily mean I can give an answer or a counter right away. I may have a few minutes at a time at best.

When I'm at home you can pretty much count me out. Working a lot of hours means home time is family time. I may get online here & there if there is something going on, but you all know me... When I "look" at a trade it means I am going to look at every angle I possibly can to figure out if I think it will be a good deal for me. I never trade just to trade and rarely just do it on a whim.

LMAO, at the time I dont think ive ever been as pissed as I was at you. And I cant even remember why. But then again, I also dont recall threatening to kick your ass either. Though I know I thought about it at that time...... But my point is I didnt call Keg to threaten him, as he is telling people. I called for this reason, and it turned hasty. And that has alot to do with why the bitterness remains. I had never had a problem with Keg for years. In fact we used to talk on AIM almost daily. And I dont even think in the beginning I was as mad at what happened, but the way he turned when he was questioned about it. Then it grew from there.

Let it go, people....let it go. The only thing keeping any of you from enjoying this (or any other league) is the man in the mirror. Or chick in the mirror....whatevah.

Am I going to sit here and hold Dan hostage forever for cussing me out a couple of years back? Hell no. And I think he would say the same thing in reverse over what might have set him off or anything I said in return.
