The game isn't a joke, at it's best it offers more drama than any other sport. The structure is ridiculous though. The amazing thing isn't how many times NY / Boston have won the Series, the amazing thing is how many times they haven't.

True I guess. I just can't get into it. Maybe it's just a time thing. I can't get excited for a 162 game season either. I watched for a bit in the late 80s and early 90s but than went off to college and just sort of fell out of it. Implementing revenue sharing and a hard cap like the NFL would make MLB so much more enjoyable.

Yeah - it won't be close if they blow another call like Mauers double called foul.

Man...did the Twins blow a great opportunity there in the 11th. Of course, if they don't blow that call Mauer ends up scoring instead of on third. That really sucks.

Thats a tough loss to swallow we needed to take one game in NY to have any sort of chance and to get another game at home. They are too good of a team up and down that lineup and anyone can beat you. Just hope the Twins keep their heads up...

Why didn't they walk Rodriguez when the count reached 3-0? You don't offer the best hitter in baseball (bar Albert) two strikes. It's ridiculous. Nathan cleared out the rest after him and would have done so if they'd walked A-Rod.

Between their own ineptitude and that of the umpire(s) , Twins gotta have a bad taste in the mouth no amount of home cookin can get rid of. They may stave off elimination once on sunday, but I see NO way they win the series now(not that I gave them good odds from the start). HAD to have that game, IMO, and it was so there for the takin...

That was a frustrating game to watch. I love the way the Twins play, but they HAVE to get someone home with bases loaded and no outs.

And that ump should be fired on the spot. Terrible call. That's the kind of thing that makes me wonder if some of these games are fixed.

werd - the left field line is his ONLY responsibility, he hustles into position, 15 feet away and misses that?? it wasn't even that tough of a call.

It probably would have worked. That call probably comes from Gardy or Anderson. They obvisouly thought Nathan could beat him.

One of the golden rules of baseball is you do not intentionally put the tying run on base and bring the winning run to the plate. and if he would have walked him the pitch selection and batting strategy would have change thereby probably producing different results.
ETA by different results meaning Nathan might not have cleared out the rest.

I get that but having to throw two strikes to the second best hitter in the game would overrule any golden rule for me. It's different if it's Joe Journeyman. Sitting there, you could see it coming and Twins management should have seen by then that Nathan wasn't firing on all cylinders. I don't think Nathan was bad particularly, it's that A-Rod is in a class of his own (bar Albert).

Once again, Twins starter holding the Yanks down and the Twins cant get anything going to support him

It was good run...More than what I expected.

Offseason "to do list"

1. Sign Mauer to a long term contract (7+ Years).
2. Sign Pavano for another year.
3. Try and find that ACE, Blackburn and Baker are solid, but they need someone who is automatic.
4. Figure who you want at 2nd, SS and 3rd in 2010. Twins could start out with whole new infleld.

Well, that sucks but after blowing game 2 it was pretty inevitable.

For me, 3rd base is the most important problem. I'd keep Cabrera and Punto unless a really good FA falls into our laps. The rest of what you said is completely agreed.

If there's a new stadium, they need to build a different team.

Need some new parts, anyway. I agree with you there. Also agree with Outshined and Ursa above. Twins have a lot of issues to address this offseason and a lot of people will be watching closely how they go about it.
