How can Mike Bell still be on IR when he played this past Sunday?
Gopher
Pretty simple, really... It's in the rules:

QUOTE
IR RULE:

You can not activate a player in the same week you put him on IR.

You can not put a player on IR in the same week you acquired him.

If you don't activate a player on IR the week after he has stats you lose him.

A player qualifies for IR by being listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL on the official NFL injury report.

Suspended players are not allowed to go on the IR. They are not on their team's IR so they shouldn't be on yours.

Technically, Bell could have stayed on IR up until kickoff next week. At that point, I would have had to drop or activate him. I activated him tonight, however, just because I don't feel it's worth causing a "stir" over. All of that said, I would be more than happy to put this rule up for a vote (for next year), if multiple owners feel it needs to be changed.

Edit: Seriously, if others have a problem with this rule, let me know, and we'll vote on it for next year. If not, and I don't hear anything, I'll assume it's fine as is. Thanks. smile.gif

I know what the rule is, but I think it just neds to be modified a little for next year that's all. The player should be dropped or added to the active roster before the waiver process starts for that week, not before the game on Sunday at he end of the week. I'm not expecting anything to be done during the season, but it's something I feel we should take a look at for next season.

The part Gopher bolded says it all. And he promptly activated him this week(the week after).

Thanks for that input Jaxfactor, but Gopher and I talked about this before this post. My point was that is an easy way to really circumnavigate the rule and basically stash a player for an extra week ( if not dropped until Sunday before a game) so nobody could have a chance at a player you dropped and you could keep another player on your roster as well AND I'm not even remotely insinuating that Gopher was doing that. I would say being able to basically get a free week out of the player is good enough since most leagues make you take that player off IR as soon as he is not listed as doubtful or questionable.
