I'm going to be out of town for an annual conference for work and have a boatload of prep to do to get ready, as we're launching a new product and I have to be prepared to get peppered with questions from 800+ accountants as well as run demonstrations. In the midst of this I'm dealing with both my parents and my sister / brother in law going through some marital issues that are eating up way more personal time than I wish they would. My wife and I both work and have a toddler and preschooler, so the balance is difficult as it is...

So, it seems that life has basically decided that this was a shiddy fall for me to get more involved in fantasy football. My teams are all suffering, and I just haven't been able to enjoy it as much lately. Someone in another post (Randall I think) said something about this feeling like a chore / job, and that's exactly where I am now. I can't remember ever actually dreading going out to check on fantasy football stuff before, but that's how I've been feeling when I get home and get the kids to bed and am beat and just want to relax without staring at a computer screen since I stare at them nonstop at work all day and lately many evenings working overtime. It is difficult for me, because I am extremely competitive, and I hate not being able to give my best effort to be successful.

Sorry for the vent, and thanks WashD for picking up the slack. Amazing how, back in March, I was gung ho to step in and help run this league and I'm on the complete opposite side of the spectrum now. Oh, and my sister is going in for a biopsy next week too.

[sarcasm] Good times. [/sarcasm]

Hey MT. Try to keep things in perspective. I know in time things will be easier for you if you can just work through this time. I too am going through tough times, dealing with depression issues, a career change and recent break up. We need to remember that people have it much worse. I hope all goes well with the biopsy, and thanks for the help youve provided the league. As for fantasy football, there have been times it has seemed like a chore to me as well, but ultimately I was able to find joy in it once again. Hang in there bud.

Completely understood. Things can get busy all of a sudden, and everyone else's problems become your own. If I can help by temporarily taking over any duties regarding managing free agency duties, let me know.

while it's true that some have it much worse, the fact still remains that these events are happening to us and it is okay to feel upset/frustrated/whatever about these things. Obviously, if it turns to depression -- I know many people, including myself, who've suffered from it in one form or another -- it's a good idea to get professional help, incase you haven't found a therapist yet.

MT, sorry for all that crap bro, especially your sister's biopsy. Feel free to vent whenever you want. I'm no therapist, but my selfish, ignorant advice would be to maintain focus on your wife and kids.

ETA: not that anyone needs my permission, but I'd support 'relish being a commish if he and WashD want it.

Good advice here. As for my experience ive experimented with many options to get through tough times.

Hey MT,
Sorry to hear about everything going on, especially with your sister's health and the other family issues. Fantasy football should be fun, it should be an escape from that sort of stuff (and work as well), not another responsibility that weighs on your shoulders.

I've appreciated all your help getting this league going and keeping it running smoothly, but why don't you take a break from Player commish for awhile, just take that bit of responsibility right off the shoulders. I'll accept Relish's offer to help out and my work schedule has also settled down a bit now so I have more time to manage the league as well.

When/if things settle down and you want to jump back in (whether this season or the next, or whenever) you'd obviously be welcome to.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Take good Care,
WD

Thanks guys... And Opie I am definitely putting my wife and kids first. I hate family drama. I also wanted you guys to know why I haven't been on top of things out here. I'll probably only be out here once, maybe twice a week to check my team, set my lineup, respond to offers, etc.

[sarcasm] Good times. [/sarcasm]Do you work as an accountant or an IRS agent? Seems like we have all joined the league with great hopes of being able to enjoy it. Seems most of us feel like its a chore with loads of responsibility now. I myself am working through a bankruptcy to keep my home. Unfortunately the trustee took another &40 a week and wants $1500 from my taxes this year. He said that even though they took it directly out of my check I fell behind. I called the FBI to get them to check on it-seems he found about $5000 that wasn't taken out of my check this year yet. So I wonder if anyone can guide me as what to do? All of in this league need to remember one thing-ff is about having fun for many of us. Its not that competitive edge that some people crave. I came to build a team. In the draft I got blindsided-and just took what I knew-and it cost me. I am doing these trades to start to rebuild my team-and yes it may take me some years to get it done. So, I hope everyone else has found solace and peace in their lives. I started working another job-which I love. I actually work or am involved in my kids activities for about 80 to 90 hours a week. SO Yes I understand. Randalllightning

I echo the others, I hope life and work can settle down for you soon.
