coach.gif Quit f*ing tanking already!

This league has become a complete joke. I though we kicked people out for bush league chit like this.

He failed to submit his lineup thus causing bye week player(s) to be used this week. He had other players that could have been used.
Boyce
Honestly Greg he forgot.....I understand because Chicago is in your division but it still would not had been a factor he scored almost zero points for his whole bench.
caetano
I apoligize fellas, I am not trying to tank. The only pick that is mine that I have left is a second rounder. I thought I had the right guy starting. Honest mistake. Won't happen again.

Ahhh crap . . . Hope I'm not on the chopping block, too.

I guess expecting teams to put forth as best an effort as possible to help create the most competitive playing environment as possible is asking too much. Like trading for a RB this week and then failing to insert him into your lineup when your other starter is on a bye (which contrary to Boyce's opinion could have had an effect on the outcome of that game) or when teams start taking zero's at a position because they trade their only starter or leave starters on their DTS or having a fire-sale by week 7 because they no longer believe they will make the playoffs, essentially tanking their team for the year. Maybe I just view it differently or it's more common place than I realized or more pronounced in this league, either way I don't want to start being the league "whiner" so I will not bring it up again and will just keep my 2cents.gif to myself.

I'm the league "whiner" so I will say it.

Bengals acquired Deangelo Williams by trade on 10/20. Deangelo Williams scored 22 points. This game is virtually tied with the Bears needing Maclin to get 1 catch tonight for the win. Needing 22 points would certainly have been a factor.

The reason you don't see Williams on the Bengals bench is because it is showing the week 6 lineup. Cinci did not submit a lineup (or even log in to MFL in the past 7 days).

Truth

ETA: Not truth about the league whiner part, just about the trade and why he doesn't show up on Cin's roster when he actually is

Despite my earlier comment, this does seem a bit much. Braylon Edwards was in my lineup literally within minutes of the trade being processed. If you're on-line anyway . . .

Bears 144.140, Bengals 136.725

Moreno (starter) 0.0
Williams (bench) 22.0

Starting the bye-week player gave the Bears a win.

Cin wins easily with Williams in the lineup instead of a bye week RB

Maybe if Cinci gets another win, Buffalo will feel comfortable in teh tank battle and move some of his top scorers off his DTS and to active roster.

As Nick has said though, he doesn't own his 1st for next year, so I don't think he is doing anything on purpose
Beaumont
Cincy, you knew you needed to field the most competitive lineup you could each week. I know this is an honest mistake but you did not enter any lineup at all. Thats a problem, especially when compounded with prior problems.

I am inclined to rule that your worst 2010 draft pick will be skipped at the time of the draft and if you have no 2010 picks (not likely) you will lose $1.

Please let me know your response.

That's fair beaumont. I respect the league and your decision. Shouldn't happen again.
Ziachild007
I agree Nick should make every effort to put in a weekly lineup, but I don't think I would go as far as saying he is tanking. What good would that do if he does not have his own picks? I looked at his 2010 picks and he only has 1 of his own, so losing is not going to improve his draft position that much.

2010 1 New Orleans Saints
1 Dallas Cowboys
1 Tennessee Titans
1 Washington Redskins
2 Cincinnati Bengals
2 Jacksonville Jaguars
2 Chicago Bears
3 San Francisco 49ers
4 San Francisco 49ers
4 Dallas Cowboys
4 Jacksonville Jaguars

Looking at the picks he has and some of the pieces he has in place I think he will whip this team back into shape pretty quickly.
5Rings
Yup, I was wrong then about the tanking comment.

Please accept my apology, Nick.

FWIW when I refer to tanking it's not just about losing on purpose for the sake of a better draft pick but also taking unnecessary zero's from trade's or not promoting a guy for whatever reason or not remaining competitive and / or losing interest because you may already be out of the playoff race, etc. It's all the same as far as I am concerned. It's easy for teams to lose motivation when your season is primarily over and not worry about setting lineups or covering a bye spot or making a move to fill a void but it can negatively impact the league in the same way as a team losing "on purpose."

That's not tanking....that's just poor team management.

Chin up big guy.

I am as easy going as the next guy, but I don't like to be accused of tanking. I do have have a number of players on DTS who are scoring, but none were starters at the beginning of the year. I would love to sign them all, but I do not have the years and I also have a small roster, which means I have to keep years set aside for not rostering 35 players. I have also submitted a lineup every week and have made every attempt to make sure I have three rostered receivers, which was an earlier complaint. Okay....rant over.

penaltyflag.gif That was me. Thought you had cap years to use. 7 is kinda tight.

Guess you don't. I apologize.

No worries. I hate to lose, but don't want to mortgage what I've begun to build. And my last two games I almost won!
