Maybe instead of reprimanding coaches for being pissed off about bad calls that massively impact games, you should focus on actually trying to stop officials from screwing up important calls.

Just sayin'

Mind you, UT didn't get robbed of a chance to win the game so much as they got robbed of getting bailed out by a bonehead play by Alabama and getting a 2nd shot at winning the game. I can even understand the officials missing the call in the heat of the moment or even being reluctant to make it in such a situation.

However, either you call excessive celebration or you don't. And video clearly shows that dude ripped his helmet off before Alabama recovered the block and either ended the play or officially changed possession (thus making the penalty a moot point because it would be Alabama ball anyway).

So, at very least, the SEC should apologize to UT for failing to consistently call excessive celebration. Certainly not punish the dude who reminds you that you botched the call.

Again, I'm less pissed about the call because UT had their chance and screwed the pooch. Just annoyed that every week they're screwing up very important calls and now, it seems that they're tired of being reminded of it so they're just telling people to quit bugging them.

Of course, I could have written this same rant about the fact that replay somehow upheld what appears to be a pretty obvious fumble on Florida's pick 6.

Amen - the SEC officiating has been atrocious this year.

Well, it's in favor of Bama and UF, so at least it benefits the league.

Of-course it's pure coincidence that all the blown calls have favored the conference big dogs,: Florida, Bama and LSU. And It's not as if the SEC has ever been associated with unethical conduct or anything.

I'm sure the SEC will try and eliminate such occurances with total disregard to its 15 billion dollar TV contract and the very real possibility of getting 2 teams into the BCS title game. Unsportsmanlike conduct calls, other random penalties and form tackles by referess will all be judiciously used without regard to teams' rankings or NC chances.

What you're implying goes beyond unethical and would be an unrivaled scandal. It would make players point shaving seem like nothing. Even the NBA refs betting on games would be small potatoes because it wasn't institutional. A conspiracy in which officials are told to give preferential calls in order to benefit it's top teams? At the expense of the rest in the conference? Did UT's top brass sell out their football team and buy in knowing they'd ultimately make more money if Bama and UF made the final game?

I'm just going to stick with crappy officiating.

This makes 3 straight weeks of terrible/blown calls all MAJORLY benefiting the top dogs in the SEC. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me three times, it's hard to not think something fishy is afoot in the SEC...

How do you think LSU made it to two BCS bowl games, all fixed. remember that play against Kentucky a few years ago where they won on the last play. Planned yea I know it's hard to believe. The Truth is out there.

If you're referring to the hail mary in 2002, LSU didn't play in the BCS NC game in 2002, and actually lost to Kentucky in 2007 when they did go. Don't know what the result was in 2003, when LSU did go.

I didn't say the fix was in, I said it's hard not to think that. Perception is a huge thing, especially in an arena where human opinion makes up a large part of your grading criteria for who goes to what bowl. As an outsider looking in, 3 weeks in a row smells fishy to anyone that is not an Alabama or Florida homer. Even Tony and Mike were talking about it yesterday on PTI. I think it is a good thing that the SEC took a hard line on the officiating crew that was involved in two of those games. I was somewhat disappointed that they just shrugged their shoulders at the Tenn/Ala celebration thing.

Not such a stretch in my mind, for the win-at-all-costs, most penalized, most colorfully renegade league in the NCAA. The league where boosters can drop a 150 grr for a DL recruit! (Means, Albert)

laughing.gif Dude, a lot of guys would have to be in on this. And in order for a lot of guys to be in on something, eventually you're going to ask the wrong guy and then it blows up. I'm not saying it couldn't happen because they would never stoop to this level. I'm saying they'd never do this because it would be impossible to get away with and it would be the biggest scandal to hit sports, maybe ever.

Roids? No big deal, because it's just a bunch of individuals trying to get a leg up.

Single refs betting? Again, not institutional

But an entire league having it's officials cheat certain teams? It would be freaking huge.

But everyone loves the Gators. Therefore, I think that as a nation, we would all be happier if they won the Natl Championship every year.

The entire league doesn't need to be on-board, and clearly isn't. Just the commish's office providing appropriate 'guidance' to a handful of refs should suffice.

It looks like the SEC "Fix" team found their way into the Iowa vs. IU game today......IU is having a tough time trying to pull the upset with some of these calls.

Thank you. This game was proof that I've been right within my inner circle all along, in that they can lose at anytime, to anybody. I'm just enjoying the ride. Whatever happens happens.

The Refs officiating the Texas/OK State game are making the suspect SEC refs look stellar.

(Unless the SEC guys have jumped leagues.)
