Let's look at players involved and see what's going on (from my perspective, since I made the trade offer):
- I have three DEFs. I don't want to carry three DEFs. I drafted MIN only and picked up IND and DEN on the way. While MIN may be ranked (#3) the highest of the three by our great Huddle staff, I have concerns about how MIN is playing and really love my Broncos (#7) (Waiter, another glass of kool-aid please!) and I like the direction IND (#18 and climbing) is playing.
- Bowe (ranked #11): I know he's putting up pretty good fantasy numbers, but he concerns me and has for several weeks. He has 23 catches on 43 targets. That's not that good. I'm not as high on the HC as I was in pre-season. I feel the same as Cassel, he's not producing well and I don't see that turning around.
- Hester (ranked #19 and climbing): I know he had a bad fumble, but the kid's having a good year and it appears that Cutler is locking in on him. Remember last season how some were complaining that Cutler locked in on Marshall too much? I'm still ghey for Cutler and think he's a stud. Hester has 28 catches on 39 targets. That's pretty good, certainly better than Bowe's completion percentage.
- Washington: IR (yes, I knew this before I made the offer)
THE TRADE OFFER
(First off, I've made about 10 offers this season and no one accepted any. Clearly I wasn't offering enough.)
I wanted to move Bowe for no other reason thatn I wanted move him. My team is 4-3 and on the bubble. Bowe's on a bye this week and I need a win. Hester has a great matchup and he has several more good matchups in the weeks coming.
Straight up, I really like Hester over Bowe the rest of the season. Sure, I could be completely wrong and it could fail, but I like his upside more and playing it safe with Bowe won't get me anywhere. Remember, The Huddle has them ranked not that far from each other, so I can't be that insane, right?
What would it take to make the Hester owner accept the offer? Would he take Bowe straight up? Maybe, but I didn't need a third DEF and he very much needed a decent DEF cuz his weren't performing. Bowe+MIN should get it done. Am I over-paying, probably, but I was going to drop one of the three DEFs anyway, didn't like Bowe's outlook, so git r done!
As for Leon
I like doing even number of player deals and have a handful of players targeted in the upcoming waivers to take his place. If I asked him for a WR5 or RB4, someone with little or no upside, he might reject the trade over a player that would ride the pine or I'd cut anyway.So, I most certainly could be dumb or wrong, but the trade was offered with some attempt at research. I'll be annoyed if the trade gets reversed and will then post in big, bold letters, "Bite My Shinny Metal Ass".
