I am going to try to get the schedule up in the next two days, I just wanted some opinions....

As for the divisions, should I leave them as they are or give them some sort of organization? (ie, by geography, 1 out of state conference, 2 in state, randomize them further? )

We will be playing all in division teams once and non-division teams twice. In order to accomplish this, we will need to play one doubleheader. In the past, i have scheduled a few non-conference games early, then you get into division opponents, with the doubleheader played in between the two groups of in-conference games. That would place the doubleheader week somewhere around weeks 8-10. Any opinions on this?

not a fan of the double header....

i can ck and see how we do the schedule in my other 12 team league

I guess the way I expected it to be was ....

play each divison foe TWICE = 6games
play each non div foe ONCE =8games

then WEEK 15 Playoffs TOP SEED vs LOWEST SEED(WC)
#2 VS #3Seeds

WEEK 16 CHAMPIONSHIP......

schedule should start off with you playing your divison mates first
then move to the other divisions then the last 3 games should be vs your division again...

For Arguements sake teams are 1-12 with 1-4 5-8 9-12 as divisons

1vs2
1vs3
1vs4
1vs5
1vs6
1vs7
1vs8
1vs9
1vs10
1vs11
1vs12
1vs2
1vs3
1vs4

In the league I commish, we just throw out one game a year vs a non-conference opponent and use a rotating schedule so you play them 3 out of the 4 years. Playoffs week 14, 15 and 16.

Whatever you guys decide is fine though. One week of double headers don't bother me. Hopefully we all definitely insist on a week 16 championship game though wink.gif.

So you are looking at 4 teams making the playoffs? I thought we were doing 6 playoff teams.
6 Division games
8 non conference games with 1 dblheader = 7 = 13 weeks

Week 14 1st round playoffs,
2 division champs with best records receive a bye.
3 seed plays 6 seed, 4seed plays 5 seed

Week 15
Best overall record plays worst overall
#2 plays #3

Week 16
Superbowl

We could still do 3 divisions where every one plays twice, and non div opponents play once, but just have the 3 div winners and 3 wildcards for 6 team playoff. Seeds 1 and 2 get a bye until week 15, this of course puts the championship on week 17. My leauge plays it's superbowl week 17-common to popular thought, week 17 is a fun usually high scoring week-you just have to coach well that week. Teams who are not making the PO usually give a spirited performance.

This is how we do it also.

I think 6 teams need to make the playoffs.

I disagree. Half the teams making the playoffs cheapens the regular season.

4 teams making the playoffs lessons the chance of a mediocre team getting lucky a few weeks and winning it all.

(then again, was against the WC in baseball. smile.gif , and don't get me started on hockey...why even play the regular season? )

I am with PD again!! I like this format the best!!! Most balanced, as you play each non-divisional team once. Never understood cutting the season short, as just as many teams rest on week 16 as 17. Just another issue to consider when drafting players from dominant teams.

To LG's point, also rewards the top two seeds, who receive a first round bye.

Again, this format is clearly the most logical in my opinion.

I paid $100 thinking that at least 6 teams would make the playoffs. To find out now that only four advance leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I guess I should have found out before I sent the check in.

For our inagural year, I think we should go with 6 playoff teams. Next year, when everybody is seasoned, and clear on whats going on, we can ramp up the stakes with a $200 entry fee and 4 playoff teams.
