Blind Bidding Waivers in FAST
With our very first Blind Bidding waivers deadline approaching tonight at midnight eastern time I thought I'd send out the following information.

Blind bidding is new to me too this year and especially new at MFL for me.

I have tried to figure out how the bidding process works and how it will be ranked/processed after the deadline. The following information is general help on submitting your bids from the MFL site:
Blind Bidding

If your league contains at least one waiver window (defined as a time frame denoting the start and the end of the period) set up as a blind bidding period, then all franchise may make bid request through the end of the period. At the end of the blind bidding window, the commissioner must Process Waivers to assign the proper players to the correct teams based on the highest bids.

When making a blind bid, a franchise must define the player to bid on, specify a dollar amount for the actual bid, and optionally select a player to drop. Once defined, use the Add to List button to create a new bid. Use the Remove From List button to delete any previously defined bids.

As most teams keep their roster at the maximum number of allowed players, they will always have to submit a player to drop as part of each blind bid. Therefore a successful bid will both add a new player and drop and existing player from the team's roster.

Show Only - Use this filter to restrict the available free agents by position or team.

Select A Player - This is the free agent listing of players to choose from for acquisition.

Player To Drop - This list defaults to none, but can be changed to any available player on a teams roster.

Add To List - Once a player has been selected to add and another to drop (required in most cases), click on this button to add the new blind bid.

Remove From List - Select this button to remove the currently highlighted waiver request from the list. Bids can be removed from the time they have been made until just prior to the commissioner processing waivers. If you intend to remove a blind bid, it's generally a good idea to do it as soon as reasonably possible.

Comments - Add any comments for the commissioner to view when he/she has to Process Waivers.

Save Bids - Once all the bids have been defined and ordered, click on this button to save them to the system.

NOTE: If the commissioner logs in to the league, he/she can never make a blind bid. Since they are the commissioner, they are only allowed to make actual waiver transactions so they will always see the FCFS waiver screen. In order for a commissioner to make a blind bid, he/she will have to log out and log back in as the franchise owner.

When finished, you MUST click on the Save Bids button in order to apply your changes.
NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART:
The window you see to submit your blind bids is the one and only window used so submit all your requests at once.
I have determined from MFL support and talking to other commissioners that the order you add your picks is NOT relevant. All bids will be treated equally so consider this in your bids.
On the Commissioner's end when I go in after the deadline to process the waivers I will see a screen sorted like this:
NFL Player, highest Bid amount$, Franchise, drop player, comments. There will be a drop down box showing the other bids for this player ranked from the winning highest bid to the lowest.
This means if you submit bids with the same drop player you will have conflicting information in the system. The only way to help me process waivers if you want condidtional picks and/or the same drop player for multiple bids is to USE THE COMMENTS section in great detail for each bid. i.e. this bid is only valid if bid X for $ does not go through.
Should you submit bids with the same drop player and no comments to help me decide which are valid and which are conditional bids I will consider them ranked from your highest bid to lowest with ties broken by alphabetical last name. i.e. if you bid $10 for Ralph, drop Tom and also bid $8 for Jerry, drop Tom I will consider your $10 bid for Ralph first. If you win that bid then of course you no longer have Tom so the other bid is not valid. However if you have comments on the Ralph bid that says I want to bid $10 for Ralphy only if my $35 Eric bid does NOT go through then it becomes a conditional bid.
Sounds complicated so I want everyone to include as much detail in their comments as possible till we all get the hang of it.
If you accidently submit multiple bids on the same player I will only consider your highest valid bid.
If you submit a bid that does not conform with roster limits (i.e. puts you over limit because no drop mentioned, drop your only K) then I will ignore that bid when processing. You must have a valid starting lineup at all times and therefore can not drop your only K/TE/D etc unless replacing the same position.  I'm sure this will cause a problem at some point so make sure it does not affect you.
So in a nutshell all bids are equal priority unless you submit comments that rank them in some way the order for me to process. If you submit the same drop player I will start with your highest bid player and work down.
Should the site make a mistake and allow you to bid more than your balance the move will also be invalid and/or reversed when discovered. Be aware of your bid bux balance and ensure the site has accurate totals. Ensure you budget enough for the year until waiver moves stop at conclusion of regular season wk13.
After the blind bid waivers there will be first come first served waivers (FCFS) starting noon eastern Friday until first kickoff.
On weeks with Saturday first kickoff there will be no change to the waiver deadlines.
On weeks with Friday first kickoff there will be no change to the waiver deadlines so there may or may not be FCFS.
On weeks with Thursday first kickoff there WILL be a change to the waiver deadlines - bids will close Wed night midnight eastern and processed sometime before Thursday morning. There will NOT be a FCFS waiver period so submit your bids on time.
Hope you got to the end of this cuz it means I kept your attention. Either way I wish you good luck with waivers and FAST.
I know my team needs some after losing week1.
