Big Bill says he has alot more information than any of us have ... he has looked at it more than any of us have ... and the time is not right for Henson. Testy gives the team the best chance of winning.

I don't think He's ready either, He's only played in 8 games since High School!

And Bill would be right! That's why he's the coach and you are not.

As a Jason Witten owner I hope this is the case.

Vinny is the least of the Cowboys' problems.
alexgaddis
sad part is that Vinny really isn't the problem there..

Maybe Drew can play a little D?
Grits and Shins
Is Drew the answer for this year ... no.
Will Drew help us win games this year ... no.

There is no argument about that.

My argument is that if we don't find out NOW if Henson has what it takes to be our QB then we can flush next year down the toilet too ... while Henson has his growing pains. Let's get Henson in there so he can get some game experience and so we can evaluate him BEFORE next year when the games mean something.

Here's my take. Parcells isn't dumb. He knows whether Henson is the answer or not, and he's not. He's seen him in practice week in and week out, and he just doesn't have what it takes to be a starter in the NFL. Say hello to Drew Brees or Kurt Warner next year.

Give him the last 4 games--don't send him out there to face the Ravens.

Short week before the turkey day game, and make the change after that.

I'd actually just let him ride the pine...but take reps with the 1st team in practice...because I doubt Vinny needs any more 1st team reps....

so he at least has a rapport built with the players as the season winds down...

he might even sit the whole next season if I'm the coach....but then again...that's why I'm not...

I say you try to solidify the defense next year and still stick with Vinny...

2006, you break out with Drew Henson who has spent 2 full seasons working on the playbook...learning the system instead of spending weeks working on the gameplan for teams...

he's had such little work that he needs all the time in the world to make sure he's well prepared...regardless of how impatient anyone is....

well, actually....the last 6 or 7 games next year, if the season doesn't look good....you bring in Henson....treat next year like you are treating this season..

that's just my take

Couldn't of said it better myself.

I find this talk about winning and Vinnie not being the problem humorous. The simple fact is, the cowboys are far from contending and need to get their younger players more experience while attempting to secure a top 10 draft pick.

Vinnie is not the main problem, but he sure as H-LL aint going to win a title for us either.

As G&S said, lets not pull a cincy have to take another step backward next year. Let Henson get the playing time, while allowing the game to slow down a bit before next season.

all this talk about winning and best chance of winning is MISSING THE POINT! and it appears Bill is missing the point entirely as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not about wins at this point.

Now you're on the right track, TONY ROMO!!!

Seriously, I think he deserves a shot. His last pre-season game he went 12/14 141 yds and a TD.

Overall he was 24/39 250 yds a TD and 2 INT's in the pre-season. Those aren't great numbers but they compare to Vinny's and they are better then Henson's. Plus Romo has an extra year in the system.

I say let's get past the Turkey Day Game and then put Romo in to play.

And I'm not knocking Vinny but he was brought in to offer experience at QB in what everyone thought was going to be a Wild Card year. Well by Turkey Day the best the Cowboys can be is 5-6 and that's not going to get them in the race for the Wild Card.

So like you said let's start looking to next year and let's find a QB now.
Jackass
If it was gonna be Romo, why was hensen bumped up to #2 a few weeks back?
Perchoutofwater
Romo will be the #2 guy in Dallas for a long time. He will not be the starter. He reminds me of Jason Garrett. I hope we see Henson in week 12. There is no way the Boys make the playoffs this year. They need to try out their young guys, and get a good draft pick.
davehb1
let me get this straight if player has not played in a while the best way for that player to become ready is by not playing? the only thing vinny will do by playing is guarenting a lower draft pick...next they'll tell us they need to sit julius jones a while so he can get ready to play...

he needs practice and a full run next year...

would you rather him come out and play...then look like a QB who hasn't played in 4 years....and get his confidence shot really early?...I mean...it's not like he's played enough to have a very stable state of mind out there on the field....because he hasn't played...in sooo long....

...think about it...

look diont get me wrong i see where your coming from but there is a difference between practice, even in full pads and a full contact game. he is going to be butchered but if a 41yr old QB can make it a year and remain healthy then i think henson can too...besides if you wait until next year then would you really want to throw a qb in to the who hasnt played in 5yrs?

think about that...
JoJoTheWebToedBoy
Look guys, Vinnie is not the problem

Lack of Quality Receivers, a problem
Lack of a Rush, a problem
Lack of a secondary, a problem
Lack of a RB, a problem

But Vinnie isn't the future either.

Sooner or later the Cowboys will finally drop out of ANY possibility of a playoff berth (yea, like that hasn't happen yet). At that point what does Dallas have to lose, another game, who cares, they would most likely lose it anyways. All they can do is better their draft position.

Henson should be given the reins and get some reps, If he is the future, he should get some real-time experience.

My guess is we start seeing Henson and Julius by early-mid Dec.

How can you draw a comparison between Romo and Garrett without having seen Romo play in the Regular Season?

I didn't say it would be Romo. I was just saying I think it should be Romo.

Whatever keeps Parcells and Dallas solidly planted in mediocrity works for me ... so if Parcells feels keeping Henson from playing will help him overcome not playing, I'm not going to argue. sneaky.gif

I do think bringing him in against Baltimore or in front of the Thanksgiving crowd would be the wrong timing, but as for the last four games? Well, I'd give those to Henson. I predict Parcells does exactly that. He just can't admit that at this time.

I think you are exactly right. But I would still rather see TONY ROMO than Henson.

I agree that it's still a bit early, but if Henson is the projected QB for next season, you need to get him some game-time experience this year. If it were up to me, I'd give him the last four starts of the season.

i completely agree vinnie is not the problem but the season is lost so there is no reason to keep vinnie in...the problem is parcells is in so love with vinny he has forgotten what made him successful, running the ball.

last year quincy went into the season with a less talented offensive group and was successful because they ran the ball. it didnt matter that hambrick was as slow as growing grass they handed him the ball 30 times a game and kept the defense honest, in turn this kept a weak defense fresh and steady.

henson's cast would be just as good around him, george is comparable to hambrick and keyshawn and witten are just as comparable to galloway and glenn

so just give henson the *** ball
