I was driving from an appointment here in Raleigh when I heard the local news station say that Sauerbrun wouldn't continue kicking for Carolina unless they returned the $40,000 in fines he has accrued due to a constant fluctuation in his weight and his inability to stay under the teams weight goal for him.

Huh?!!! Is that right? How is it Carolina's fault that he's a fat sow!!!! LAY OFF THE TWENKEES PAL!!!! laughing.gif
A Little Bit Special
Is that for the remainder of the season or are they talking about resigning him (if he is a FA)? It seems kind of silly to hold out over $40K. If he refuses to play they don't have to pay him right? I would think his weekly paycheck is a lot bigger than $40K.

''It's really hard for me to skip a meal. I can't go to bed hungry. I can't do it. I've tried, man, I've tried,'' he said. ''I'm not a junk food guy. It's just I like good, hearty [food]. I like meatloaf, gravy, mashed potatoes. You know what I mean? That's what we just had for lunch.''

Ok so he refuses to PLACEkick unless they pay back the fines. That distinction makes much more sense. He's still a moron. If, as he claims, he is only "a couple of pounds overweight", then for an "athlete" it shouldn't be that hard to lose it.

I love it. I think this is great. He is like me and my half speed, lard assed friends. I like him more despite him being a kicker.

Are you saying you can count a punter as an athlete? rolleyes.gif No but seriously...if he does the job, does it matter if he's a bit tubby?I mean...he's a kicker.

That's why athlete was in quotes biggrin.gif .

I would agree that it doesn't really matter if he's overweight if he's doing the job, but if he didn't want to adhere to the weight restriction he shouldn't have allowed the clause to be in his contract. Really starting to annoying me that these guys sign lucrative (for punters maybe not as much other positions) contracts then whine when some clause in the contract comes back to bite them in the ass. More and more it seems the only ones bound to the contract are the teams. Players hold out whenever they want, and the team in many cases can't cut or trade them without putting themselves into salary cap hell, but now I'm on a tangent. g-rant.gif

I think his ego has grown ever since he was made the highest paid punter.

You know he's the highest paid punter.....right?
Sauerbrun signs 4 year extention

So it's hardly the money......he said.....it's the embarrassment of getting "that letter" every week.....LOL. If he's only 1 or 2 pounds over...$6000 sounds pretty stiff. On the other hand....6K would be a good incentive to put down the dang fork too! shades.gif
