Backfield in motion: Running back Thomas Jones (toe) and linebacker Lance Briggs (foot) both practiced Thursday and were upgraded from questionable to probable for Sunday's game.

Jones has been sidelined since spraining his left big toe on the Bears' first play from scrimmage Oct. 31 against the San Francisco 49ers.

"We'll ease him back a little bit, but we anticipate him stepping in and being a big factor in the game this week," Smith said.

Jones, who has rushed for 511 yards and 5 TDs on 117 carries, may not start but should see quality playing time.

"We don't want to go that far yet," Smith said when asked if Jones will start, "but he'll be a big part of our game plan this week."

Replacement Anthony Thomas also figures to be involved after rushing for 280 yards and 2 TDs on 82 carries in Jones' absence.

"Both guys figure to play no matter what," Smith said. "Anthony Thomas has played well and has proven that he deserves some reps. We feel like we have two tailbacks that we can use this week."

Local radio, 670 The Score, has been saying since mid-week that Train and Jones will be splitting carries no matter who starts.

This was also part of an interview after practice, from the Score, a reporter was talking to some players off the field and seemed as this is how Lovie was leaning...

I don't have any back-up other than my ears. The Score doesn't have an online link to listen, but do have a website:

It sounds about right, ease Jones' toe in...

Good luck

Doesn't really matter who starts, Jones is a significant upgrade as receiver coming out of the backfield, which I presume will be significant given the match-up with IND. Look for Jones to have a big game. sneaky.gif
WaterMan
Dom Davis has shown TJ how to do it against Indy in his past 3 games against them. I hope he was watching.
GoTs
TJ hasn't had anything else to do for the last 3 games less a minute or so huh.gif
