Since you're using the "another state is another state" thing.

Should true homer fans in NYC root for the Bills then, since they are the only NFL team that is from NY?

Or is there some kind of exemption that allows them to root for the teams that play in NJ?

Bolded the thought about defense; because I originally thought San Fran would have the edge.  If San Fran were going against a pure pocket passer in the SB; I'd think they might dominate. Now I'm not so sure.  KC shut down Derrick Henry; if they do the same thing to San Fran, then Jimmy Garoppolo has to make some plays.  He has done that throughout the season, but it's clear Shanahan prefers to have Jimmy G to do as little as possible.

Lets hope Jimmy Dilfer is up to the task

I was born & raised in Philadelphia, now reside in SC. South Jersey is literally 5 minutes across the bridge. It may as well be Philly. How many Cowboy fans live, are near or have ever even been to Dallas??

Another state is another state . It doesn't pertain to you as you were born in Philly , but the Philly fans that live in Jersey aren't true homers

Exactly, total fraud bandwagoners. How many Cowboys fans have ever even been to Dallas?? Such a joke

Most philly fans I know live in south jersey . With your premise , shouldn't you be rooting for teams that play in NJ if you live in NJ ? I view sports as entertainment . I understand people rooting for their home teams and I think that's great , but it isn't as if those teams are made up of guys from your home state . The NFL is an entertainment business . As I stated , my brother brainwashed me as a boy and I like all of the teams he likes.  This includes suffering as an Orioles fan . Stevegrab is right. The Cowboys have tons of haters . I have friends who like insignificant teams that flood my social media page the literal second the Cowboys lose . Its a part of being a fan of Americas team . I have enjoyed their glory years and I have diehard supported them throughout this entire drought

I agree, it's popularity. But you also have to admit that popularity was manufactured and it started in the 70's when the Cowboys were actually a good team. They were much better marketed and we're smart enough to get in the pockets of the networks early and as I said, the more exposure you have the more fans you gain. You didn't become a fan of Dallas because you have any ties to the team. You became a fan because that's what you were exposed to and you were drawn to the product they were putting on and off the field. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's still manufactured, just like the name.

I was brainwashed by my older brother to like all of the teams he liked. It has been great on the Cowboys end..Not so much on the Baltimore Orioles end    Like I said earlier . Americas team is an empty title. I get that . Clever marketing ? agree , but there is something to be said for not winning a title since the 90s and keeping that fan base and popularity

They've become a gimmick. If I was a Cowboys fan I'd be turned off by that. I want a football team, not a dam Circus that goes town to town picking up new degenerates along the way. I'm so glad that I belong to a real fanbase that bleeds green and poops stars.

Being a fan of a hard luck team doesn't make you a better fan as those who are fans of teams that have had overall success. I have been a Cowboys fan since I was a child  . No matter how many years it has been since they have won a SB , I have never waivered in my support . I have had the pleasure of watching 4 super bowl wins( too young to watch 72) It is a loyal fan base  . How else would you explain them still being Americas team with such a long SB drought ? :usa:

It's pretty easy to make yourself "America's team" when networks and media flood the market with your product. They've been doing it since the 70's. It's no surprise they have such a wide spread fanbase. I applaud the fact that they've marketed so well, but that hardly makes them "America's team."

Again, why would the networks flood you with Cowboys games ? Demand .

Over the holidays, even my kids asked me why I still root for them.

Ha !  I live in NJ. I know plenty of Jets fans . They are loyal . I was just twisting dcats titties. He obviously isnt the type to have some fun with on the boards

Proves your point?  No. How so?   A football team will get more prime time games for multiple reasons.  Sometmes it's because they are a good, strong team. (Best reason).  Next, it's ratings.  So you are saying if more people watch the Cowboys on a Monday Night than they would the Jaguars, that means the Cowboys are America's team?  LOL.  You cowboy fans are remarkable.  Never has there been such a blissful mix of delusion, narcissism and falsely inflated ego.

Ok so we both agree the Cowboys arent a strong team.  Hence they are chosen for primetime for better ratings to use your own words. What brings better ratings ? A giant fanbase . These are facts . You keep trying to attribute this to delusion and ego.  I'm giving you facts . Top road draw in NFL . Most valuable franchise in sports.  Facts .

Dude, That you retort about the J-E-T-S Jets, shows a lot.  There was nothing about the Jets in the thread.  Yet here you are dishing Jets at me.  Weak attempt to deflect.  This isnt about the Jets.  It's about Cowboys fans' long standing delusion that somehow, because they like the Cowboys, it is magically "America's Team".  Newsflash.  It is not.  $ value is irrelevant.  That they get more prime time TV than other teams is the only reason why the ratings are higher.

If you are basing this on revenue, then you are changing the argument.  I make no claims that the Cowboys don't make more money than the other teams.  But that doesn't translate into "America's Team".  Sorry.  That's just a magical illogical leap, but I know you believe that.  Gotta love the way Cowboys fans truly believe the myth.  It's actually very very funny.  Now you can go ahead and respond about the Jets again.  But just like before, you only do so to divert form the issue: Cowboys are just a team with a wide fan base.  Just like the Steelers, Raiders and some other well traveled fans.  It in no way makes them "America's Team".  LOL.  Cowboys fans are just silly.

Americas team is an intangible irrelevant phrase . I don't understand why it upsets you so much that it is attributed to the Cowboys . Its sort of like in boxing when they talk about pound for pound. It is a phrase . It isn't a title that holds true value .

and That they get more prime time TV than other teams is the only reason why the ratings are higher

Proves my point . Why would a mediocre football team get more prime time games than anyone else ?  :usa:

I give you credit.  This is by far the most delusional post I have ever seen on this board.  Good job, man.

    "Most valuable":  Utterly irrelevant

"Huge Road draw": Cowboys far from unique.  Steelers, Raiders, Cowboys, Packers   all about the same as for "road draw".  In fact, there are always more visiting Steeler fans than Cowboys fans when they play in NY.

"Huge TV draw": No more than other teams.  Depends on 1:00/4:00 or Prime time.  Not that it is the Cowboys.

"will always be 'America's Team' ":   Ahahahahahahahahahahaha.   It's not even "america's Team" now.

Wow Cowboys fans are like in a drug induced fog.

I see you're a Jets fan, so I will weigh that into the intelligence curve here

    2016 top road draw NFL

    2017 see below

2018 3rd ranked road draw in all of sports . # 1 in NFL

2019 could not find the data but I assume you can see a trend here

Keep in mind , these numbers are generated by Mediocre Cowboys teams. Agreed that we haven't been a powerhouse since the early 90s yet we are still a top draw . Saying we are the most valuable franchise in sports is irrelevant is complete ignorance . Popularity and your fan base generates revenue . Its certainly not just Texas homers generating these figures , its the nationwide fan base

I understand that it seems odd to call a team with limited success on the field Americas team , but they are . For every hater that roots for the Cowboys to lose more than they root for their own team to win , there is equal or more fans of the Cowboys . When my local teams are on primetime and their regular TV slot is open , id say 70% of the time , they put the Cowboys in that slot. They could put better performing teams in that slot , but they don't.  Why is that ?

So while you weep into your Namath jersey every night while abusing your privates , do so realizing that the Cowboys are now and always will be Americas team.

You're not America's Team just because some idiot making $15 an hour in your Marketing Department says you are. And where are all these wins? Troy Aikman is like 90 years old now.

They are the most valuable franchise in sports . They are a huge road draw. They are a huge television draw . I agree with what you say about the wins , but the Dallas Cowboys will always be Americas team

  18. I would have preferred Kris Richard. I wanted us to go young and fired up instead of retread . Hopefully his experience helps this team of underachievers . I'm indifferent on the hire when I had hoped to be excited.  Why the rush too ? We should have given others a listen
